The more I look at the pictures of the rear, the more convinced I am that there is a split tailgate.
Even on this pic, while quite pixelated, if you zoom in you can make out a faint line that runs at a slight angle from the bottom of the rear light cluster towards the number plate.
I'm convinced this faint line is where the sun is catching the wrap over the shut lines and causing a shadowing/highlighting!
Is that not just the shadowing on the bottom of the rear half of the light cluster?
Looks to be a single piece to me, especially where you can see up and into the underside of the shut where it meets the grey number moulding.

I think I can just make out a split tailgate above the rudder.Arthur.

The new D5 is definitely not a split tailgate.
It's a single piece tailgate with the extending platform.2012 - 8 Speed D4 HSE in Indus Silver with surround cameras, adaptive headlamps, privacy glass, rear entertainment, 20" alloys.
