True.
On the positive side, provided that they keep the same designer, we know exactly what his design for the new Defender will look like...
I wonder if it'll be a bit bigger than a Disco Sport and a little bit smaller than a Disco?2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Front end is completely different to the DS, DS has dark indicators in the mirrors. Focus on the differences not the similarities.
Disco - light indicators in the mirrors, DS dark indicators in the mirrors. Got it.
I can tell them apart now

With such wide and pronounced wheel arches the D5 looks silly with narrow inset wheels. A few earlier spy shots had what must be 21" or 22" wheels. The Discovery Vision must have had 22"s and I'm sure the release car will have the same. Similarly when the DS launches online the wheels sure appeared to fill the arches, however the only ones I've seen in person look like a narrow track. 16 D4 Landmark

Not sure about this "filling the arches" thing
Isn't there meant to be plenty of space so that mud and crud doesn't bung the wheel arch up? Possibly not a prime requirement for many D5 owners, I guess?2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Agreed, many will be ex Merc, BMW and Audi owners so build quality and customer care will need to be upto scratch. I was a total Audit nut at one stage owning many from new and would have gone ballistic over the issues i have had with my current car if it was from Audi. I think we are a bit soft on Landrover at times as if it just comes with the territory of owning a LR the potential new customers will not be as soft
totally agree. i came from mercedes and the finish is better than the LR.
but of course i don't care because its a LR

Reading a few online rumours and they reckon the 2.0 will be as much as 400KGs lighter than the current D4.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

I'd be curious to know how much of that is due to the aluminium body and how much is due to supplying it with 2/3rds of an engine 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Wonder what the weight distribution will be like. If they're primarily shaving weight off the body/chassis it's likely to shift the balance forward.Current: Discovery 3 06MY (55 reg) HSE Auto Zambezi Silver Allisport Fast Road Intercooler, V8 Brakes, Silicone IC Hoses, EGRs Blanked, Remapped, De-Cat pipe, FBHIC

LR spouted 400kg weight savings with the aluminium FFRR and RRS2 but it actually only seemed to apply to most basic version. Once the magazines started to test the representative models they found the weight was much closer to the old versions. I'd expect a real-world D5 weight to be no more than 200kg lighter than D4.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk
