I'm talking about new, not 2nd hand
I also appreciate the way people keep the older ones running, but wouldn't it be nice for some more people to be able to afford new if the prices were kept sensible, my whole point is that new is getting out of the reach of most normal people as more nonsense is added, only the rich only afford them, plain and simple, just look at the price, who has that kind of spare cash lying around?
I don't need a posh radio or fancy interior mouldings and door handles that could get damaged, a plain simple tidy interior would be fine, if I want to add bits later as I have like cruise control, fridge, bigger wheels and tyres then I can do that in my own time.

But soon there will be no choice, it will be out of reach, choice would be retaining a basic model
BUT you never know, they may read this and re introduce a more basic model for some of us

But they will have a basic model in the new D5 range
Its what seperates the top spec cars (with lots of toys) from the lower spec cars (with.no toys)My D3 Build Thread

My point is the base spec is creeping up as is the price, the interiors are getting more and more unnecessarily fancy for a family bus which incurs cost.
In short I would like to see a Discovery with a Defender (old type) base interior
OK let's wait and see

Thats just a sign of the times.
People want more luxury, more comfort, and more creature comforts (except you )
Personally, I wouldnt be without my heated leather interior, I would miss my Logic 7 HK stereo, as well as the 6 disc MP3 headunit, Xenons are much, much better than the halogen efforts...
very true words..
my point exactly with the move from D3 to D4....bling...
the D3 was & still is a more basic "working" vehicle...scrubbable, wipe down & durable
& btw the more basic D3's were just as capable as the more up market HSE's
Land Rover (as Jaguar) are working on model differentiation...same vehicle in a difference of forms that appeal to all the markets that intend to target & conquer...quite do able
as an example look at the Chassis that serves VW......
Golf From basic S to R models (3 door, 5 door, estate)
Touran
Golf Plus
Beetle
Cabriolet
EOS
& same chassis does:
Scirroco......
Seat (various models)
Skoda (various models)
plus they very successfully make their cars appeal to all the sectors of the market.....basic to bling
plus plus they very wisely change their models incrementally & dont leave customers behind in an attempt to capture more customers.
ps I am am just in love with.. the ACC system on my new Golf with DSG with Flappy paddles....in changing speed...stop go traffic...& its a standard feature that is in most of the vehicle range
ops the feature that turns front PDC on without any intervention as you approach anything at parking speeds is a brilliant feature....part of the ACCBREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

If I had more money than sense I would buy a new GS rather than a 6-12month old one.MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)
Prospeed rock/tree sliders w/steps
HSE Winter wheels

Land Rover to me is a Premium Product !
Like buying a Wax Jacket from millets, they cost £50 but a barbour Jacket is £200 !
You can buy a pint of milk from Lidl or you can buy it from M&S
Land Rovers are an aspirational vehicle, they don't just sell vehicles they offer lifestyle choices.
It's Natural Human selection !
Why make a car that crosses all markets ? There are other brands which fill that market segment !
What you are suggesting is ridiculous !
By not buying a HSE and buying a GS doesn't allow for the volume of money that you throw about buying and selling tat and then pedalling on your wares !
Why do you spend loads of money on apple products when you could buy a cheap lap top ?Only dead fish go with the Flow !
