I agree fully with Bob, above. We seem to go a bit soft in the head when it comes to cars and faults. If you bought a new, top flight 3d tv and on first use it fizzed, popped and then died, you wouldn't accept a repair. Whilst I appreciate its not a great analogy, I'm not at all sure I'd be remotely forgiving about a goosed gearbox. I could live with a repar to a faulty stereo, or something similarly small, but a gearbox issue? Nope. I'd reject at once. It's a premium product and costs a fortune. It would destroy my faith in the car.
Good luck.PAGODA

Reject. Part of paying money for a new car and waiting is for that great experience and you have had exactly the opposite...stress and upset ....reject it immediately otherwise Land Rover will never strive for better quality.

Personally I would want to try and reject it, as I know I would never feel happy with the car again after something I would consider as being a major repair, but I expect I might be in the minority with that view.
Whatever you decide I really hope you can get it sorted out as quickly as possible and with as little pain and hassle.

Hmmmmmm, not sure if I was in the same position. If it was a Ford or Pug I'd reject it in a heartbeat but we get a bit sentimental about these cars. If head was ruling I'd reject, if I was feeling all gooy & sentimental I'd give them one chance to fix it. Problem with doing that is if the fault reoccurs after a few hundred miles then rejecting it gets more difficult.

As well as rejecting I would want compensation, loan of a car until the replacement is built and a discount off the new build or some free extras.
You have spent a lot of money and should not be disappointed by poor quality.

Reject, and you may have a long wait to get the car of your spec.
Accept, you will get it fixed quickly, and it will be the car you ordered, and in all probability it will be done to a perfect standard. Plus, you can probably negotiate some extra benefits such as 3 years free servicing?
I'd accept the offer, and try for compensation for loss of confidence.

Reject and reorder. The still get the new Disco you crave. I would find it hard to reject but eventually I think I would reject it if they want to take the gearbox apart and "fix" it. Let the dealer sell the thing to someone else or use it as their new demonstrator first before they flog it on.
Its not your fault the thing went wrong, but I would agree with most views here that say the thing will never go back together as well as it went together before it was ever run. They are built to be put together and basically never broken apart until their parts are already worn and slack and the difference doesn't early make much of a difference.
Ask yourself if it was 1 1/2 years later when it went wrong and it was fixed under warranty and you didn't trust it because of the extent of the failure and the lack of confidence it can be fixed properly. Would you flog it on and think about buying something else new.
