Well, I haven't exactly been a prolific poster, have I?
'Dottie' has now done 107,000 miles with little more than ordinary servicing. She had a tendency to eat dipped beam bulbs, possibly because there was some form of fault with the left hand unit, now replaced. Time will tell on that one.
Other than that a recent issue has been squealing front left brakes. An adjustment and some bits from my local garage has improved matters but it's still not quite right. The squealing can still come back after a journey of, say, 20 odd miles but not as badly as before.
She's due a service and MOT in the coming three or four weeks.
One thing I've noted reading about Discos is that it's probably way past time that the transmission fluid was changed. I know I've mentioned it to my (generic) garage in the past and been told it's a lifetime fill of glop. But reading more the suggestion is that 'lifetime' is more like 60-80k miles, after which the manufacturer has tended to reckon it's been sold on/they don't exactly care any more.
I do about 8,000 miles a year and would like to keep this Disco for a good few years to come. Because of this I got the belts changed good and early, about 93,000 miles.
What would the assembled experts suggest, if anything, that I do to ensure a long and happy life with this machine? Another 107,000 would be great!

Right, hardly rushing my posts, but on the whole perhaps you’ll agree that’s a good thing, not too many bits have fallen off or expired.
So, gearbox was duly flushed by Bodsy (both very pleasant and professional) diff oil changed at the same time, I trundled on.
This summer, whilst we were on holiday in Pembrokeshire, the epb decided to stick on. It didn’t require a whole new replacement, rather sorting out a plastic gear and related bits. Still, not cheap as labour sucked up the cash.
A question to the great and good: I think I’m correct in saying that later Disco 4s had a better epb. At 115k miles now and with the Disco ten years old I’m still intending to keep going with it. Do you think it practical/possible/wise to change the current epb for the (better?) newer version?

Hi guys,
Now at 118,000 miles. I average about 8,000 miles a year. Running very nicely thank you. Ever since the EPB problem reported previously I simply haven't used that.
The EPB is of course part of the MOT, it passed in December with no problems and no advisories. Phew!
Having read of all the DPF/AdBlue etc. issues on the latest vehicles (and, for once, I'm sure that LR products are not alone) I'm even more certain that I'm keeping my baby for ever.
Cheers,
