Disco 4 in a few days time
After much reading, pondering, investigation and procrastination I've been discoed.
A deposit went down on a one owner 59 plate Disco 4 XS, Santorini black with almond leather, 72,000 miles, on Sunday from Colliers in Birmingham. As I have to shuffle funds around a bit I won't be picking it up until a week on Saturday, but until then the proud 'father to be' (as it were) is basking in the glory of coming back into the Land Rover fold.
Over the years I've had a couple of the original 'Classic' shape Range Rovers, 90 and V8 110 Station Wagons and a Series 1 109 pick up with full tilt that started first time every time on the button, because, as you may well know, button starting is an old, not a new, technology.
It's good to be back!
cheers,Stockers

We considered that one when we were looking - it's a very good price for a main dealer and can't be less troublesome than the one we eventually bought.
Enjoy your new steed

Nice one Stockers
And not far from me if you wanted to update it.
Reverse Camera (if it doesn't have it already), 4x4 Info Screen, and of course the ever popular Timed Climate (with or without Remote Control).
Mids meet if 2nd Monday of the month, usually towards Tamworth or Coven (alternating months).

Ian,
I've done a lot of looking in recent weeks and yes, it seemed a fair price (it dropped over several weeks from a bit under £25k to a sticker price of £23025 by the time I was there on Sunday). In addition, as it is a Land Rover approved used vehicle it comes with a years warranty thrown in. It was that, and the fact that a check around all the LR forums indicated that Colliers was at least a reasonable dealer - I'll update the forum more on this as I finish the buying process - so far so good - which made me go for it.
I'm hoping that, since the one previous owner was happy to have it for five years and averaged about 14k miles per year - suggesting it wasn't off the road being fixed a lot - it is a decent piece of kit.
Bodsy,
I've 'seen' you around the place fair bit, so please forgive a new boy's ignorance, but I'm not totally clear on what you offer. Drop me a PM maybe?
I'm certainly looking for a recommendation or two for who there is local to me to have look after the beastie (for some reason I can't fathom I'm thinking of calling her Dottie - Dottie the Disco, hmmm….) for services or any, hopefully very few, hiccups in her running. I'm based about a mile from Market Drayton in north Shropshire.
Meantimes, thanks for the comments so far.
cheers,Stockers

Now, I know a previous owner could say anything, but as my car's owner has long since had a part exchange deal on a new Disco she has no axe to grind.
A quick exchange of emails this morning and here is part of what she wrote:
'I have to say it was a fantastic car and never went wrong! We honestly never had a problem with it at any point owning it and only bought a new one as we try and swap every so many years.
Do hope it serves you as well as it did us! In my opinion a lovely car!!'
So I'm that bit more hopeful I'm not buying a 'Friday afternoon special'.
We shall have to see…
cheers,Stockers

Looks really nice - I'm sure you are going to have lots of fun with her
It would look great with the 2014 (MY14) rear light unit and if it hasn't got them you must drop in some Xenon's (easiest upgrade going - even I could do it!)
Not mine, but here is what the the new rear lights look like:

Ah ha!. So now that explains the design of the 2015 light clusters...they were designed for a black car. Don't they look great against the black paint?
Compare and contrast with them on mine, which is Corris Grey (despite the brown colour cast on the photo).
Incongruous, IMHO. Shame.
