I spoke to the guys at Pentland Cupar and Edinburgh and they both said the same thing, there won't be any cars available to drive, until the very end of February or the beginning of March. They themselves don't go down to the factory until the end Jan/Feb for the dealer training. Where are you getting a test drive in January ?

My salesman told me yesterday test drive in January (at the dealership) with delivery late March.
We had test drives in the DS before the dealers had training, LR representatives were on hand. 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

I was at Cupar last Friday morning picking my car up after some warranty work, that's when I was told they weren't getting a test drive car in until Feb/March at the earliest. I think they need to get their story straight, especially since it was Fraser that told me that Let me know if you get a January date

I heard (third hand) that they keep finding new problems- especially with the electrics- and all dates keep slipping as a consequence. I don't think you need to get your driving gloves on for a bit.... d4 HSE

Must be the power folding seats or the activity platform then...
Think how distressing it'll be to pay £75k and not be able to fold the seats from your phone! 2005 D3 HSE

CC: I would like to meet (and shake the hand of) whoever it was that hacked LR's market research software and implanted the idea that App controled, electrically folding, rear seats would be a good idea!
Not only did LR fall for it, but he/she indirectly even got Bear Grylls to humiliate himself in an advert too

It's good to be able to use an app to check cars whereabouts & report theft & lock car turn lights off shut windows etc.
My spec is £66k HSE with good options. (My opinion & my choice) I payed £55k for D4 four years ago so although expensive I'm not shocked.
The folding seats is an option that I'm not having, choosing cooling seats instead. Peter

Cooling seats are surprisingly good - had them on my Saab 15 years ago. Assuming they have perforated leather for that option or it'd not work that well.
The prices for the new Discovery are crazy - whilst we could probably just about afford one if we wanted to, that's such a serious chunk of change for having "not a Range Rover" - It really staggers me that despite what's going on in the world there's really that many people around with that much money.
Either that or we're simply seeing everyone buying these things on the "tick" with no real intention of ever owning.
Ultimately what we are seeing here, I believe, is Range Rover now consigned to executive limo and S Class/ 7 series territory and for those that are "land" rather than "spreadsheet" the car to replace that classic Range Rover for the dogs, hunt, shoot is a D5 - true levels of utility with luxury MY15 DIY Black Pack (Better than factory and half the price!)

The seats are perforated leather even those not cooled.
I have a small farm/business so that pays for car it's my "business tool"
Once it arrives I will report on off road ability compared to D4 have some interesting tracks 8)
I normally change at 3 years but held on for D5 time will tell is I've made the correct decision. Peter

Of all the convesations on here and elesewhere for features and enhancements, I cannot recall one anywhere that said 'Geat car but if only I could fold my seats from my phone'. To be honest its such a daft idea. The speed and ease of reconfigering the seats in the current D4 is so simple, quick and easy. It really was a design master stroke. Now you've got to stand, wait, twiddle your thumbs and pray the motors and electrics don't break. What do you do if they break and stop half way? It also adds unnecassary weight, which LR has been trying to reduce - one of the reason why there is no split tail gate. Its such a stupid idea. Just becuase you can doesn't mean you should.
I'm off to see it on the 16th, but I will really need to beconvinced it meets my needs and fits in with our family lifestyle before parting with £70K+. However, at that money I'm moving towards GWagon territory which might suit us better or I wait for the new Defender. I buy my car on PCP, and don't really care about owning.
My spec is £54k, mainly because I opted for a premium metallic, because LRs colour palette is woeful. I was interested in the S spec but I can't get the 3.0 or upgrade the halogen headlights. Now the rest of the range has LED units surely xenons should've been standard?
