It will be interesting to see how you get in with this as I have had the 963 recall carried out and whilst it seems to have stabilised the hot/cold change I still need to set the temp to 25 to get the car warm. All my other LR vehicles and others have only needed 21/22 so something still isn't right!

Hi Andrew. That's the first I have heard of the FBH being replaced. Were there any indications of an FBH issue , i.e. inability to use it to pre-heat the car ?
It seems to me that there are a variety of things that need to be adjusted/swapped out (FBH, sensors, heating reset etc etc) to get this fixed and the insertion of the piece of foam actually does little to resolve
Sounds like it needs to be taken to a good, keen dealers to get it sorted, and yes...... please spare us the pics of your journey home ! Gary

Did you get any indications the FBH was faulty? Gary

No warnings on the dash. Basically the car was cold when it should have been warm/hot.
When I asked the car to pre heat using the factory remote you could hear a fan start in the scuttle area and run for about 20 seconds then nothing.
Most mornings I call by my workshop thats about a mile away from my house to check things are OK. I turn the engine off have a look about come back to the car an continue my journey. When its cold and I turn the engine off the FBH continues to run and is still running when I get back to the car.
The temp gauge would not lift above 1/3 on a 10 mile drive, when in slow traffic the temp would drop.
So all of the above indicated that the FBH was not working. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

Our car was in on Monday and the foam insert was incorrectly located and the repair as per LTB00963 carried out.
As the car is used by my wife, it will be the weekend before I get a chance to go on a long enough (>15 minute run) to see if the warm to cool to cold air blow has been resolved.
Dealer had no issues in undertaking the repair (Morrisons in Stirling) - as usual, they do a good job and are prepared to listen to the customer concerns and act on them. After seeing Andrew's post, the FBH is working on ours - the temp gauge does get up to halfway quickly enough and doesn't seem to drop down at all. No other faults were identified when it was handed back to my wife on Monday. I'll give an update once I have had the run in it.
I hope everyone else can get a resolution to the problem in their vehicles.

Thanks for the updates.
I didn't realise the FBH worked in that way. All I remember from my earliest cars was that if the temp stayed cooler it was indication the thermostat on the coolant system was stuck open. Gary

So, took the car for a run yesterday - and the initial feeling was good, that after 15 minutes the temp seemed to be fine, controlled better than before.
BUT, another 10 minutes or so - cool air once again blowing from top vents with cool air around legs shortly after.
So, the problem is still present but only after a greater time has elapsed.
To me, this points to a calibration issue of the HVAC system (whether its sensors or the controller software). I'll need to report back to the dealer and see what the next step is from them.
Keep you updated as to what happens.

Pls do keep us updated if your dealer finds the fault MGDisco.
My vehicle has exactly the same issue as the one you state. have to set to 26/26/high to get any warm air, then after fifteen minutes it gets cold again.

ok... Mine's been in the dealers today..
Called me this afternoon to say they've found nothing wrong with it, but they have a bulletin saying that anyone with this complaint then they have to replace a seal (never asked too much as i was working )
they're going to re book it in and fit the seal....
Watch this space. (but don't hold your breath)

Maybe that's the LTB000963 foam replacement. Don't hold your breath if it is as it hasn't worked in mine

As a temporary fix, switch the AC off. Been running around like this for a week and the car doesn't get cold after reaching the target temperature. Not ideal especially when its raining but at least I don't have cold feet!
