Maybe because its moved away from its niche as a go anywhere brand and has moved more main stream, that there are too many good soft roaders out there to choose from. Is LR now seen in the same light as the Toyotas, Hondas and Nissens?D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

Certainly since 2005/6 there have been lots and lots of much cheaper soft SUV's available in Europe so it is not surprising JLR is losing out in sales
Remember these are only Discovery sales, I would think the biggest fall in Discovery sales is due to the new model Landrover launched the RRS. The RRS was a bigger seller than the D3 and D4 D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

Was given an HSE 2 litre D5 to rattle around in last Monday while the D4 was having its service. While I 'liked' the D5 I found it scarily lacking in being able to see much through the rear view mirror - I like to be able to see the drivers behind me. Also felt hemmed in even with the panoramic roof (I am 5ft 7 and fiddled with the seating A LOT to get the right seat position). Kids liked it because it had an arm rest cup holder (fml !) and they felt more cosy. They also didn't need the booster seats as the rear seating wasn't so high. From the front passenger/driver point of view, also seemed there was less windscreen height so again visibility was slightly narrowed. Also found boot door was a little wrong/too clunky. I normally have to reverse onto my drive as we live on a busy road. We then have a wall with steps up to the house. Because of this, I couldn't get the car as far up onto the drive because of having to accommodate the boot door opening.
As stated, engine was 2 litre. It was ok but it if I needed a bit more speed/urgent manoeuvring, it would lag. It was decent enough though.
He Who Should Not Be Obeyed asked me what I thought of it, worrying I may put this on my Mothers Day present list. He was glad to hear that it won't be.
We may have to wait another 9 years until maybe the D6 but by that time the kids will be wanting their little run arounds, the dogs will be geriatric and we will want something a little more fun/sporty.My16 HSE Landmark - 2016 - Current. Indus Silver

You're very spoilt by the D3/4 when it comes to visibility. Infact I can't think of a vehicle I've driven that offers more. The Unimog with a flat bed body was good though. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Have meetings over in government buildings and noticed they are still using D4's a lot. Two in the carpark I use were armoured I wonder if they are waiting on armoured D5's to change the fleet?MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten
