I prefer the look of the P38 to the Classic. I prefer the P38 to the L322 too, I think, in the looks department at least. As you say, each to their own.
In terms of looks, the current breed of LRs would be, in order of styling preference for me: FFRR, Velar, RRS, DS, Evoque, D5. I don't understand LR's thought process - the FFRR - RRS - Velar have an obvious common family feel to them as befits the common bonnet badging. The DS and the D5 don't have a common family feel even though they share bonnet badging. If the D5 had just been a bigger DS, stylistically, it would probably have found more favour.

Apart from the vestigial step in the D5's roof, the silhouette of the DS and D5 is very similar - both based on the Discovery Vision concept car.
...although the rear view of the DS is far superior to that of the D5 IMHOGordon

Now there's a funny thing. I read your post and then went and looked at images of the two. Side by side, I can see the similarities, as you suggest, but in isolation I'd never noticed that they were so similar. I'm not sure that says a lot for LR's "Discovery family" styling, to be honest.

Whatever, I definitely think the DS is the better looking of the two. I'm aware that the D5's size makes it difficult to style (in the new "Discovery family" style) however.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

It was probably the worst design feature of the Discovery - it was apalling.

Not having the lower tailgate in the way when trying to get something out of the far away parts of the boot.
