My 'wisdom' on this just to satisfy CH
It's been on the cards since Corbyn was elected ...I can perfectly understand why they want to go and can agree with several of their observations and rationale.
The big 'but' is that they should have had certainty of more numbers ...if there was such a appetite among larger numbers of disaffected MP's then I would have anticipated more throwing their hats in...if not before then certainly after the announcement. As it stands, with only 7 names they will just slip into political obscurity and likely to be hoofed out of their seats in due course.
It's a shame because I for one am disaffected and really looking for a centrist solution ...sadly it's nowhere in sight.21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I understand the sentiment but for voters who vote for a party, they've been let down by this situation regardless of who the candidate might be.
Voting for the person doesn't make any of this right when you've voted for the party they were representing.
People who vote for people because of their party need to learn how the electoral system works then and stop being so precious.
Same people, presumably, who shouted and moaned about changes of PM, e.g. Blair/Brown, without an election.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Me too
Not a split, more of a spat at the mo. See if it gathers momentum ( ) and, when the ‘splitters’ are up for re-election, how they fare.
History of such events doesn’t favour them.

Surprised that it’s as few as seven; from the build-up I was expecting Tony Blair riding in on a white charger, with an EU cape draped over his shoulder. I predict two will rejoin Labour, two to the LibDems and the other three lose their seats.
I’m also wondering whether I need Google safe search on before I look up “Mike Gapes”.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

A Labour MP has apologised for claiming a group of ex-colleagues who quit the party in protest over anti-Semitism may be backed by the Israeli government.
Ruth George, the MP for High Peak, suggested it was "possible" the seven MPs who jumped ship on Monday were being supported by the state of Israel.
She later issued a statement saying she was "deeply sorry for her ill-thought out and poorly worded comment".

I think a lot of the "anti Semitism" is actually "anti Israel Government". The latter is acceptable, the former isn't. Sadly, I think there are some in the Party who are also anti Semitic whilst hiding behind the "anti Israel" stance. But then I'd be unsurprised to find the same is true in the Tory Party.
The conflation of anti Israel with anti Semitism is one of the things the Israeli Government has been very successful with.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

3 Tories?
Two would be Soubry and Wollaston I would guess. Both are very chummy with Umunna.
