Greetings from Perm, yet another time zone onwards.

Dinner for tonight. Potato roll thingies in bag were scrummy, sadly all biscuits now gone.

Had to see how good this was, our 1st taste of Moldovan vino.

Been watching Hiking the America’s, nothing to see outside most of the time.

Note charging arrangement. Hides a multitude of sins!!

Fire going well, sadly not our carriage! Big Cry Big Cry Though TBH ours is nice and warm now. Thumbs Up

Nothing for sale on the platform but carriages getting water top up.

If we’re lucky we might get a loco change, the present loco & driver aren’t the smoothest combo. Rolling Eyes

PS SWMBO’s just downloaded 3 episodes of GBBO, that’s going to be torture tomorrow night. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

And greetings from Asia, and Siberia!! We, we I, have stopped saying it’s positively Baltic, it’s now positively Siberian, even at +7c! Well it makes sense to me.

The tracks have gone downhill like you wouldn’t believe. Never again am I going to complain about the 10:33 from Oxshott to Waterloo, last night was like a car crash in 3 dimensions that just kept on going! Woke up feeling like a Siberian Huskey, ruff, at 7:20 with SWMBO all bright eyes & huskey tailed. Big Cry Big Cry

Breakfast was some fresh roll things from the stall on the platform, pretty good with coffee from our limited supplies. Pic of said stall through grubby compartment window, I CBAed going out to take a pic. Whistle Lady manning the stall down the platform was just checking she had enough stocks of ice creams! Shocked

Two time zone changes today again, I’m sure they have those just to catch us out. Shocked

A few more railway related pics.

The front of our train, now we know who to blame when coffee gets spilt as a result of braking.

Back end of train. We weren’t brave enough to go right to the end, we needed the comfort blanket of an open door with a guard to shout “oi, get yer butts back on board”, in Chinese of course.

And having seen the inventiveness of Russian drivers in both StP and Moscow, seeing antivehicle barriers at level crossings isn’t a surprise. Mind you if they do get across it’s Dukes of Hazardovski time. Thumbs Up Rubbish pic as windows are pretty grubby.

Looks good DSL. Not sure about the sound of the solid beds though.

Looks like you've just been travelling through a bombing range... Shocked

Didn’t see them but lots of little lakes at the side of the tracks. Nearest we saw was a train full of mil trucks and tracked vehicles with guns. Both helped with out on-going “i spy ....... T” game, until I pointed out that self propelled artillery doesn’t begin with T. Whistle Whistle

A couple of random typical views from the Russian Railways restaurant car. Typical of scenery.

For pic of lunch, see yesterday’s lunch pic as it’s identical. Not much change in menu. Sad

It’s frustrating to think that the Ruskies have electrified the line all the way across Siberia, and we can’t even electrify a line between Manchester and Sheffield!!

Stretching your legs?

No wonder your coffee is spilling. Checked in a bit earlier, and the Glympse was updating every 2 seconds, and said your were travelling at 0kmh. You then jumped to 55kmh in 3 seconds... Laughing

Channel 4 app, downloaded to the iPad so can watch offline. We started to watch the Russia to Iran one but SWMBO put a stop to that, to many questioning questions in that. Whistle Wil save it for the Mongolian leg. Thumbs Up

They have an incentive here, maaaaaaaaaasive amounts of freight incl oil & coal. Peeps here are a bit of a sideline. Talking of coal, here’s the carriages being stocked up with coal. Not enough, sez I, as the forecast where we’ll be in a couple of days is -13c!!

And an old coal powered relic, with the setting sun.

One time zone done while I was schnoozong, turned it from 1 1/4hr kip to monster 2 1/4hr one. And brings vino time closer. Thumbs Up

Re leg stretch, yes, mainly as I’d lost track of SWMBO. She got off to investigate the shopping opportunities, I had no idea where she went. My dilemma was if the guards shouted her yer arras on board, would I obey and leave her, safeguarding all our stuff (read vino supplies) or miss the train & leave her there?

Difficult that one, not. Laughing Laughing

Re oil tankers (another T):
