Hi,as far as I can remember, the dab comes from the back of the cd unit and gps is the white fakra on the back of the display screen. I am not one hundred percent sure because I did it by trial and error.

The DAB depends on your model year.

I have a MY2012 and the DAB unit is in the rear. The built in antenna appears to have a dual FAKRA cable which plugs into the unit and I believe the signal then goes to the head unit via the MOST cable

I bought a FAKRA splitter as below as I could not find the correct solution and cut off the female to fit a MCX for my USB DAB unit.

I had to cut the locking pins off the male connectors as they didn’t fit the “socket” but when pushed in and taped up they are fine

Thanks for the info, Mine is a 2016 HSE and I can't recall it having a dual type plug. Just going out to have a look now.

When I say its in the rear I mean at the rear right side of the car where the 3rd row of seats are.

You need to remove the offside passenger seatbelt mount as well as the other fasteners to remove the panel

I spent ages looking for that plug Laughing Laughing This is going to be a bit tougher than I thought, I will need to remove the full length dog cage first. Going to leave it till the weekend.

I bought my system off ebay and it arrived last week {7 day delivery from China}. Just fitted it and so far it's performing really well. I also ordered the splitter cables for the GPS and DAB. Can any of you tell me how to get my phone call and end buttons at the bottom of the screen. I just have the phone logo at the screen.

do you have a link for the item? how hard was the install?

I've a GS spec 2010 disco 4 looking to upgrade, what other features does it have?

I just typed Discovery 4 Tesla screen into ebay. To be honest it was a very easy job to do and I would say the toughest bit was removing the vent side trims on each side of the original screen. You really do need to pull hard from the bottom. Wiring is plug and play and the screen swop was easy. Just take your time so you don't lose any of the screws {torx-20}
This whole topic has plenty of tips.

Good morning,

Thanks all for the info and insight.

Has anyone had confirmation that the headrest monitors/screens and associated tethered wireless headsets still work as OEM after the upgrade? ASame with the built in fwd pair and side mirror cameras (I see the rear works fine).

And, are the plastic “wings” strong enough to support a RAM mount for a phone or HAM Radio?

Hi and welcome to the forum. If you joined because of this thread then blame me because I started it.
I can’t give you definite answers to all your questions regarding the connected peripherals, but I can’t see any problems because the modification is basically replacement of the original display screen with added android.
As for the plastic trim,it’s fairly robust but it would probably be risky to add mounts.
I have fitted several of these units, all to pre 2012 vehicles and so far so good.I’m still discovering new things. I am just finding out how useful voice control is,it’s amazing.

Thanks. Appreciate the insight. I’m definitely putting together the shopping list for the head unit, the tv tuner (although need to ensure it’s a US compatible tuner), and extra cables, dongles, etc.

The mounts would be for a couple light objects (neither the phone or HAM radio are large or weigh a lot). I’ll probably give it a try.

Had a couple rental vehicles with CarPlay and got a used to it.

I’ve opted to using a hotspot for the full work/internet connectivity of the unit I installed. Helps with Waze but also I can live stream ESPN games, movies on Netflix, HBO+ etc. best road trip car ever. Everything native to the old screen/system still works great also.

Oh also I’ve found the car play app on android very very buggy so I don’t use it. Never was a big car play fan anyways tho

Can this setup still allow you to connect an Android phone via bluetooth (not just tethering to the WiFi to the phone hotspot for internet) so I can make calls via this system through to my phone using my phone contacts? (preferrably activated via a voice command like "ok google, call ...")

And can it handle multiple different phones (not connected at the same time) like it does natively? For example my wife has an iPhone, I have an Android and we don't have any issues when whoever is driving connects their phone via bluetooth.

Any Bluetooth phone once paired will connect automatically. I don’t know what would happen if two previously paired phones were in the vehicle at the same time.
So the answer to both questions is yes.

Thanks thisandy.

I wasn't referring to a bluetooth battle of the phones when both phones are present. I get one has to have bluetooth turned off, or you have to select on the system which phone to connect to. I was more curious about how much of a phone's features are linked via bluetooth to the system.

For example, if I have my phone providing internet via hotspot and also have it connected via bluetooth, can I just say "Ok Google, call Foo Bar" and the system will look up "Foo Bar" in my phone's address book and start the call?

Also, is it possible to switch between Android and Carplay? (assuming Carplay would interact with my wife's iPhone better than android auto, if that even works at all)
