England 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Tonga GreenDiscovery 3

Well, not heard back yet about the other Discovery. So in an attempt to keep myself occupied as the side affects of the vaccine have finally almost completely worn off (Just headaches at the moment), I decided to give the green D3 a bath. And out of boredom I gave the trailer side another coat of primer and swapped the cars over on the drive.

Enroute for business purposes, stopped at the beach and had lunch and took my dog for a quick walk, I absolutely love this car. I am going to assume that the silver Discovery 3 deal is now not going to happen as the owner is flip flopping and has changed the goal post for the deal and I have been offered an engine for the blue one for £75 if I remove it myself. So have lined up a friend who can go and get it for me if I go down that route.

Ok, in an attempt at prising the keys of my trusty Freelander back from my partner, I bought a low mileaged Meriva Auto. Well..... that landed me in the dog house! 3 issues were raised with it by my partner, 1 it's a Vauxhall Rolling with laughter 2. It's Auto Rolling with laughter 3. It's not the Freelander Shocked The same Freelander that my partner was wining about using all through winter. So now my latest impulse buy which has had to parked at a friends half an hour from here until Thursday is going to have to be sold on Rolling with laughter It only took 15 years to get my partner to like Land Rover's. And I still might be getting another Discovery 3. But won't know until next week. Wish friends wouldn't dangle shiny things in front of me before they are ready to do a deal Rolling with laughter

But next job on my list which I really hate doing is replacing the caliper on this Discovery.

England 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Tonga GreenDiscovery 3

Too simple and boring. But my current collection (bought and owned are): TD5 Discovery GS, permanently borrowed by my parents around a decade ago and will get it back when my step dad gets in his coffin Rolling with laughter Blue TDV6 Discovery 3 in storage, Green TDV6 Discovery 3, Blue Range Rover L322 4.4 V8, Vauxhall Agila 1.2, Vauxhall Meriva 1.6, 1 small metal standard trailer mid restoration in my back garden, Escort van trailer at the front and a Freelander TD4. Then there is potentially from next week a silver 2006 Discovery TDV6 which I have agreed to buy, but the owner is on the go slow with his decision making.

Agila is being sold as I can't even remotely tempt my partner back into it. Meriva will make some money anyway so wasn't bothered if my partner was going to have it or not, just wanted to try and get the Freelander back off of him, but now come to the realisation that this won't happen for a while. I will just wait for the casual sneaky, 'That's alright' comment when he wants something I have. But I used to be a motor trader and I am a qualified mechanic, and starting to get my mojo back, so might carry on and buy and sell cars again. But I have always been the type that if someone dangles something shiny in front of me for the right price and I either really like it or can see a profit in it, I will grab it with both hands and have some fun with it.

If I get the silver D3, the blue D3 will be sold, if I don't, the blue one will be kept. Only reason for that is the price I have agreed to buy it for and the history I know of the silver vehicle makes it more viable and interesting to me.

I like a weekend toy (V8 Range Rover) and a work horse (Tonga Green D3) and a back up work horse Whistle Laughing and any little projects to keep me busy. My goal is actually to get enough money together to pay for a years worth of rent up front on a yard with small workshop so I can carry on. Although now looking at potential moves to a semi detached property with larger driveway, ideally with road or track access to the rear garden so I can have everything at home. As it is I have quarter of an L320 in my rear garden and outbuildings, about a third of an L322 plus a ton of parts for D2's, D3's, Mondeo's etc... Laughing I literally buy and sell anything I think has value.

I plan on thinning the collection of cars permanently to 2 by September. But I do mean, I plan to. But then again, I plan on doing that every year. We shall see. Nearly everything is for sale at the right price I suppose.

Been a little while since I last posted. I have now fully fixed the Agila, found that the suspension top mount bush had gone as well. So did that on the drive. And have been pottering around in the Meriva. But now business is picking up, I have a job to do tomorrow with the Discovery, so the rear brakes are being done in the morning. And I am using the Escort van trailer to collect some goods for someone. A pity job, but I wll take it Rolling with laughter The Meriva has people viewing it Wednesday, hoping it will sell so I can move on to the next project.

Struggled to not tinker with the Meriva, before I knew it, I had fitted 100w LED bulbs in the revers lights and fitted VXR rear lights Laughing

Sadly my neighbour must be having a psychotic episode again, as my Freelander was vandalised AGAIN Banging Head The same person that assisted her in keying the Discovery but not her with him this time, along with 3 others who look like they are 12-13 years old, at 4.04AM today decided to coat my Freelander in KFC food. Chicken wings, mash potato, baked beans, corn on the cob launched at the windscreen repeatedly, milkshake down the windscreen etc... And not only my car was targeted, but my neighbours Range Rover a couple of doors down had food launched at its windscreen. Interestingly this is just 2 days after my neighbour and I went out in the Meriva as he was looking at buying it off of me.

In the CCTV Footages, the noise was that loud, I was convinced windows had been broken. But luckily, it all just washed off and no obvious damage was done.

I am about to submit a report online. However I have uploaded the entire 3 angles of CCTV footage along with a message stating a £50 reward for the names of the people who actually did this pending successful prosecution. I figured £50 will be like winning the lottery for someone on this estate. Only time will tell. But early night for me tonight, and long day tomorrow.

Really looking forward to having my Discovery back as my daily driver.

A long day, gladly over and done with. But thanks to DTA, my Discovery is back on the road. Discovered that the drivers rear caliper was on its last legs as well, so replaced both rear calipers and rear discs and pads. Did over 235 miles today with the Escort Van trailer in tow as I was collecting a gearbox for someone else. It was great being able to drive my Discovery again without any worries. Only downer today was discovering that on my journey up to DTA, my Black and Silver Land Rover badge decided to vanish.

Ha Ha, I love the idea of you trying to slim down your number of cars.

Todays potential buyer was a time waster for the Meriva, brought her dad who said buy it to her, but she wanted to go away and look at other cars. And the idiot opened the window to tell me the car wouldn't move, It is an auto, I looked in and down, and said, Sir, you have both feet on the pedals Rolling with laughter off they went for the test drive on there own, leaving me the key to a 61 reg Golf estate. So then after they vamoosed in the golf, I hooned it up to Dartford Transmissions, in hopes that I could get my air con re-gassed, but just my luck, the condenser is damaged and leaking badly, luckily DTA test the system with non toxic gases first. And at no charge which is nice of them, they sent me on my way Laughing So I need a condenser. Small list of jobs building up again, but nothing major at the moment other than the handbrake.

Tomorrow the car Discovery is on Hospital duty as I am having another minor op that was put off at the beginning of the Pandemic.

And you are right about the motor trade thing. If I see a deal I can't refuse and know I can make some money, I will go for it if I have the money or can get the money together. And regularly hit my motor trade contacts up for deals on parts and cars.

Came home from hospital after being told to rest for a few days and drink extra fluids to normal and got to go back for a CT scan as something has flagged up during todays procedure. So of course, red flag to a bull. And I have sanded the other side of my trailer and put a rough coat of primer on it Rolling with laughter Then someone walked by and asked if I took metal for him to the local metal merchants, I could have the trailer that he has been offered for free. So tomorrow I will be getting the trailer out of this ladies garden and helping the guy take metal to the local metal merchants. So now have another project Rolling with laughter

I also converted the rear lights to LED on the trailer lights.

Short lived daily driver Shocked Rolling with laughter Just as I was getting used to driving my Discovery as a daily, using the loading area in the back is a big must, and today, after I loaded my equipment and tools, the tailgate decided it was no longer going to open Shocked This morning I fitted the lower tailgate cables properly as 1 had unscrewed itself and the other had started to, that solved it not latching properly for some reason, and resolved the upper tailgate popping open by itself Shocked Then whilst I was out collecting another trailer, the upper tailgate decided point blank to refuse to open. The microswitch is recently new is not responding at all, so tried the interior switches and they make the actuator make a noise, but the tailgate doesn't pop open. So one of tomorrow's jobs is to squeeze my fat backside through the side door and get my tools and equipment out. So the Meriva is back to being my daily driver until I get that resolved. I have now put my Range Rover up for sale in a couple of places too as my neighbour is back to vandalising cars again, and I can't bare to be worrying about any vehicles that I cannot get on my drive. Although, now that my partner has got a new job in a different town, I am starting to look into the options of moving. Probably won't happen though as I need an adapted property. And this time if I move, I want a semi detached or end of terraced house or bungalow, with a drive and preferably a large rear garden that has access from another road so I can get vehicles into my back garden Laughing

But today I towed the Escort Van for a quick local job, was given an untowable trailer that had to be pushed half a mile up hill to get it home as there is a padlock on the hitch I have to remove tomorrow, but that was in exchange for me taking a local disabled man and scrap metal to be weighed in. I wasn't going to say no to that.

The tailgate by miracle opened today, then like an idiot, I shut it without thinking and it won't open again Rolling with laughter The decals on the upper tailgate are now gone, just residue to clean off.

The tailgate seems to be down to a failing or failed actuator and faulty catch. It lets me open it once every 4-5 hours Rolling with laughter So I took the opportunity to strip the cover of the lower tailgate in case I need to get in urgently or in case it doesn't open again. But I have to prioritise the legal stuff first, my rear tyre is near bald and definitely illegal, so tomorrow, I will be getting another tyre fitted. I have an RRS tailgate in my garden, so hopefully the actuator still works on that, so I will fit that soon, but at the moment, my health is really kicking me in the nuts hard. Had an operation last week, and they discovered something else that I have got to have scans and further tests for, and possibly another operation.

And being told to rest rather than choosing to, is a red flag to a bull to me, so today, I used Meguairs ultimate compound polish by hand as I CBA to get the machine and extension lead out, and got rid of hedge scratches, bird poo damage and the paint that transferred from my trailer to the door and rear wheel arch where I accidentally tapped my trailer Whistle Laughing I was tired both times when it happened.

After the forecasted rain that is due this week, I will be deep cleaning the interior of the Discovery and when the temperatures reach north of 16 degrees with virtually no breeze, I will finally fill in the scratches on the doors, wing and bonnet, as they are now bugging me.
