Would getting a Jag engine not be cheaper? Sounds like you have a lot to do and it still might have faults caused by the earlier "repairs".

In my opinion there are two reasons for rebuilding the machine.
A used cylinder head including the needed camshaft i could get for 150€
The seals, bearings etc.:
https://www.ebay.de/itm/264287613653
Timing belts, oil and Filter about 250 €
So in the case that the crank is not broken or other damage there is a lot of time needed and maybe 1500 €.
An other engine will cost 4000 € and more.
In this case there are new timing belts and new timing chains needed. Additional to that a few seals, oil and filter.
The marks which were stamped on the pistons by the exhaust valves are not so deep.
I can't feel it with the finger nail, so i think that there is no fatal damage occurred.

Hmmmm. Loose parts on the camshafts. Exhaust valve marks on pistons.
Does this not sound like someone has had a problem before and not repaired it very well?
Or pulled the head, realised it was too much work and threw it together loosely to get rid!Series 1 V8
Series 2 Hibrid V8

If the replacement head doesn't come with them, get a new set of exhaust valves. Not worth the risk of refitting the ones which have contacted the pistons, now much more likely to drop a head and really mess up the rebuilt engine!

Now i pulled the engine and will have a look inside tomorrow.
Then i decide if a rebuild or an other engine is smarter to do.

I could not wait so i disassembled the engine.
I can't find any damage but pieces of the timing chain in the crankcase.
The rodbearings look good and the pistons too.
Now i got the problem that the screw of the crankshaft pulley is so tight.
300 nm + 90 degrees.
I can't find any information about the direction to loose it.
Does anyone knows?

Ok. Then i will try this.
An other question is, that i found a lot of metal shavings in the oil filter after cutting it open.
In summary i have found these damages on the engine:
- cracked camshaft timing chain with damaged camshaft
- metal shavings in the oil filter
- marks from the exhaust valves on the pistons
I can get an engine from '2015 discovery with 47000 km for about 3000 € without giving back the old engine.
So i think that it is better to get the newer engine and sell the parts of the old engine that are in good condition.
