It doesn’t matter how THEY identify.. it’s when they start dictating to YOU how YOU should speak, what you can and can’t say to them and the rest.. They are free to be what they want to be, but you aren’t free to say what you want to them.

We aren’t all physic, if you look like a man, I’ll probably call you sir.. now a days that can get you fired, which is just plain ridiculous... be what you want, but don’t expect other people to pander to you because of it.

I get that. Its certainly a challenge as society adjusts to new ways of thinking. For me it's about respect, tolerance and understanding and that goes both ways. Thumbs Up

By and large it is of no consequence to me
However it does produce the odd problem like male athletes deciding to self identify as women for competetive advantage.

I would like to self identify as the heir to Bill Gate's fortune but I'm not entirely convinced it would hold up in court.....

When I was born, homosexuality was still illegal in the UK.

I'd like to think that society can adapt to accept more than two genders. It's only a
Western culture and its religions that historically has such a rigid two gender system. Plenty of other cultures across the globe accept that is too simplistic for the reality of the situation.

As the parent of a teenager who identifies as non-binary and uses the they/them pronouns, the last year has been an interesting journey. For the most part, people have been great at adjusting to their new name and desired form of address, including their school and most of our friends. Although we still slip up occasionally, altering the way we speak to and about them hasn't been a big problem, and certainly none of us see it as 'pandering'.

All it takes is a little respect and understanding of others. I find the people that have the biggest problem with it are also the ones that struggle to understand any other worldview that does not align very closely with their own.

based on the limited music I did at school, it's just half a Lovato. Makes a noise for half the length of time a full Lovato does.

strangely, when this ultra-important news first appeared on the BBC website, they used a picture where, IMHO, "they" looked like a bloke in drag.

been changed now.

^^^Exactly. Unless, of course you preach that as a school chaplain - in which case, you get referred to Prevent and sacked: Here He also objected to the school's LGBTQ consultant getting teachers to chant "smash heteronormativity" during a training day. Respectful indeed. A Christian school? Not very.

Or, take offence at things almost for the sake of doing so.

To be flippant, there is only one way to settle this: two genders, not based on any sexual characteristics, hormones or anything else but navels. "Innies" and "outies". They can be represented by two colours only (cheaper to print than a rainbow flag) and changing gender is less painful and much less complicated. Only clones (who won't have navels) would have a problem. Sorted.

Would you have a problem in addressing a Ms, Miss or Mrs, dependent on their self declared status and desire of how you should address them...I think that has been accepted over a long period of time. What is the difference Question Whistle
