TBH, I've thought about getting some ever since Flack did the 7yr service on the car but never had opportunity to buy them in advance of needing them before ... would have been very handy fixing my dad's washing machine 2 weeks ago!
And thinking about it ... Flack doing the service may have been the last time the antifreeze was changed, so Joe may be on to something as that was 5 years ago and the stuff has a 5 year lifespan !

I feel a group buy coming on It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
ok ... 2nd opinion on the mix strength showed it as max strength, so not doing anything about that.
and the warning light came on once more, in Christmas week, so I was ignoring that too.
However, as car is booked in for MoT on Friday, the warning light has decided to become active again for last 3 days.
Is it an MoT fail ? if so, can I short out the sensor to prevent it coming on during the test ?

Yes it can be bridged out, remove headlamp and grill and you can pull the plug out and bridge the wires on the plug, if it is still coming on you have a problem with the wires not the sensor.
One of these cured mine, comes complete with sensor and filler cap, if you decide to change the bottle [b]clamp the bottom pipe to save losing your antifreeze [/b.

It's proving to be a swine to unplug and even if I succeed, I'm not sure there is enough slack to get to it to short it..

Cheers, found it from same seller ... gone up ÂŁ5 though (no idea what JLR price would be)
given you found that price yesterday, did it go up because we both looked ?

My price and photo was from about 5 weeks ago!- note how many has been purchased.
There is a wire “u” shaped clip that locks the plug in place, I used a pair of long nosed pliers to pull the clip out. Take the lamp unit out, lift the PS bottle out, unclip and lift the screen wash filler pipe out, take the two studs out that hold the bottle in position and lift it up to gain access from underneath.

It will when others won't,

Well ... passed MoT with advisory that a brake pipe " covered or corroded " and, oddly, a number plate lamp out.
I say oddly as I only changed it on Tuesday and it was/is an LED. There does look to be condensation in that unit and the one I put in today is much less bright than the RH one, which is at least 2 years old.
Might have to pull it all apart and get the hairdryer on it?.

My old D3 failed for the same reason, number plate bulb, main dealer wanted £60 to change it , as it is a 30 mile round trip to main dealer I told them to do it, I got a phone call 5 minutes later to say they wouldn’t do it as it was a none standard bulb It can when others can't,

When it got really cold my coolant low warning started to trigger in the mornings. But not when a bit warmer. It didn't look too devoid of coolant when I checked although I did top it up a bit. I just wondered whether something gets a bit sticky somewhere when things dive below freezing.
Well .... replacement expansion tank fitted today and it's STILL saying "low coolant".
My mechanic is suggesting it's a wiring issue - he normally takes a dislike to the parts when I supply them but he says this tank looks good to him.

I had the coolant warning and finally decided to stop ignoring it. Bought a new expansion tank complete with sensor from ebay.
It's reasonably easy to access; grille off, headlight out, screenwash reservoir filler tube pulled off, power steering reservoir lifted off and put to the side, 2 x 8mm hex bolts to undo (need looooong extension) then pull the tank upwards.
As the float in the tank was..you know...floating, I removed the sensor from the new tank (it unclips with some persuasion) and fitted it into the old in situ tank. No need to remove hoses or any of that wet stuff.
So far so good. the warning has not reappeared.D1 300Tdi - gone
D2 Td5 ES (Alive remapped...mmm) - sadly gone
