Dropped SWMBO and friends at the theatre earlier and on the way back got a "low coolant" warning as I accelerated to join a dual-carriageway.
Had to stop at my dad's to fix his washing machine (long story) and his drive is approx. 30 degree slope but allowing for that, looked to have plenty coolant.
Checked again after fixing the washing machine and it looked just the same.
Accelerated away and ... "low coolant" warning disappeared.
I've seen many threads on here about the float failing ... is this in-keeping with a failed float ?

If the sensor behaves differently accelerating or downhill could it possible that you have too little coolant?
The float sensor manifested to me so that I was on an even surface and it pinged. But there was certainly fluid in the tank.
Too dark to be piddling around now so I'll have a look in the morning.
Got to pick SWMBO and friends up shortly too. Might err on the side of caution and take her car. (which doesn't have any temp indicator so it can't overheat)
I'm surprised DSL hasn't been along to suggest stripping it yet. Probably busy photographing food in places most of us can't afford to go.

I changed my coolant tank twice and the light just keeps on coming back on. STayed off for a few days, just so I thought "oh, I've fixed it" then boom, back on!
I may try changing the sensor at the bottom of the tank instead. New coolant, bled properly (i think) and still comes on. It's a royal pain in the ....!

I’ve got a new sensor you can try, they can be changed without disconnecting any coolant pipes £5 posted, pm me if interested. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
