But if thats the plan from JaGuAr then what's to stop Miele, Siemens, Samsung and Beko etc building 'cars'? After all they are experts in electric motor white goods.......

Much as I have a really low opinion of Musk (half way to Australia class of low) he makes the succinct point.
You glean absolutely no idea of what Jaguar does. It could be clothes dyes, fancy hairstyles or even the sofa they sit on.
Build industry leading cars......never! A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.

In this instance, I'm not sure that Musk does make a good point. If you talk about Jaguar, nearly everyone knows you are talking about cars - even if you happen to own a Jaguar tennis racket, you are still more likely to think "car" first when you hear the name. This means that Jaguar can be given a little bit of slack in terms of whether they actually show any car imagery. It wouldn't work for Honda, where you could be talking about cars, motorbikes, outboard engines or sewing machines.
Perhaps I should also break it to Musk that the only Tesla branded products I've ever bought have been thermostats for my hot-water tank!Previously:

As I don't buy new, I'll be happily buying "real" LRs for a while yet. Buy second hand and then do 150k miles in it seems to be a handy approach.
Now if we can get the depreciations gods to frown upon the Defender like other rovers, life will be good.
Honeslty though, I can see a D5 in the future, as they are reportedly as good off the road as on, and they are awfully good on the road. No wonder they have them on hand as loaners!

The Defender and D5 share the same underpinnings. It's just the body and cabin that differs. Like the Defender, it's impressive off road but it's like driving a jacked up estate car / station wagon.
I've sold my Defender and did look at the D5 but its just not me/us so I pick up a 2015 D4 today D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

D4 is the sweet spot for me too in terms of Disco’s. I’m looking forward to getting my D350 D5 January’ish but see it as a ‘Range Rover’ really in all but name. They are more roly-poly than the Defender off same platform but I know the engine is a peach having had it in RRS’s previously

I'm on my second RRS but I do sometimes think about getting a late D4 to replace the RRS when it goes - if a decent D4 can be found at the time, of course.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk
