The only positive thing I can see in this is that the merketeers have got a lot of people talking about Jaguar - albeit in the short term.Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE
Previously:

I know many in marketing say “all publicity is good publicity” but, really, it is not.

I get that younger buyers may not know/care about the heritage and pedigree of the Jaguar marque and agree that the recent SUV variants have hardly been exciting.
BUT, with the pricing suggested to be around the £100k mark for the new all-electric luxury range, then the demographic of potential buyers must be above a certain age point. I’d assume that point would be quite high.
It all seems like a unnecessary and very costly exercise to me.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I have no idea why anyone would buy a Jag unless you did care about the (perceived) brand marquee. The vehicles don’t seem special. Sorry but not sorry.
I mean, how do they differ from the average Kia, Hyundai, BYD, Nissan? If you’d remove the logos on all of them the E/F/I-Pace models are hardly different…

Jaguar ends sales of new cars:
"Jaguar sold its last new car yesterday, as it winds down operations building petrol and diesel engined models and starts work on relaunching itself as a purely electric luxury brand in 2026.
There’s no escaping the sense Jaguar has been the poor relation in JLR’s new ‘house of brands’ family in recent years, this comprising the Range Rover line-up of Range Rover Sport, Velar, Evoque and Range Rover itself, the Discovery range of Discovery and Discovery Sport and, of course, the popular Defender, as well as Jaguar. Land Rover sales have soared in recent years, while Jaguar has failed to make much headway with the likes of F-Pace, E-Pace, F-Type and the electric I-Pace.
Despite rejuvenating the line-up with a selection of SUVs, Jaguar has never shaken off the brand image of the golf-playing, cigar-smoking Terry Thomas figure. Its decision to re-enter the market with a niche model, at a high price, makes a bold statement about its intention to leave behind the mass market and focus instead on an altogether wealthier clientele."

It’s madness to not produce any vehicles for about two years because the management seems to think “build it and they’ll come”. The world might be a very different in two years time. Of course as the company is private they can do this. If it were public the market would punish them.
I’ll be amazed if this won’t eventually be a Harvard case study for MBAs on failure of enterprise innovation, corporate rejuvenation and value destruction.
Absolutely insane.
