Thanks very much for the post atacama
Looks like there is indeed a fuel saving.
On average its about 1l/100km or more.
But I hope thats not the only reaosn people remap/chip their vehicles
By the way, I just heard there is a "stay away" on Wednesday as a protest against the fuel price.
Shall we all meet at the local then ?

Atacama,
Sounds like you have a blocked tank vent pipe. D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

Does it when the long range tank is full. The transfer pump failed again . Fitting #4 tomorrow. different type of pump this time .

Better take it back to the guys who fitted it and have them check
out the plumbing. Your breather pipe seems to be full of fuel from
the long range tank some where near the filler neck. As you now fill
the main tank, the air flow in the breather pipe is blocked by fuel,
pressure will build up in the tank and force this into the filler neck.
With some surprising results and will continue until the fuel level in
the long range tank filler neck/breather pipe drop far enough for
unrestricted air flow from the main tank.
I took a VW Golf -Bosch pump for fuel injection, not the fastest, but
IMHO more reliable. D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

It is a front runner. Will go eyeball the piping now. Fitting one of my fridge pumps. slightly faster with a screen to catch the bricks.

I also have the FR one but I got BRS to install it . Karl did have a mutter about some pipe not being routed properly . Maybe that's whats causing your issue . FWIW I have had no issues with the fuel pump - but I do carry a spare one for in case

Interesting -
I had issues with the location of the filler cap after fitment of my Front Runner tank - it was being pushed up too high so it was a to get the nozzle in, so I took the piping apart and reinstalled it myself. Whilst doing this, I re-routed some of the pipes too.
Some time afterwards, before my Feb trip to Bots, I had to replace the (6mm or 8mm) pipe from the tank to the pump and from the pump to the filler pipe seeing as it had perished and was leaking. It was labeled something like "universal fuel/water/whatever hose". Since I replaced with fuel hose it has been fine.
I did mention to Wayne that the fitment was a bit dodgy, and he said he would sort it out if I brought it in, but it was easier to do it myself. At least that way I know how it goes together if I need to fix it in the bush.
I have also had no issues with the pump and it has been used for a year now (apart from the fact that it takes 45 minutes to transfer 90l - OK thats while driving, but still...), but after Atacama told me about his hard luck I think I need to acquire a spare one just in case. Its a real cheap pices of crap pump, but it looks pretty robust

Had the TT box for a few weeks and had no WOW feeling.
Exchanged it for another, but still the same, though maybe I
had a problem in the D3 electronics. Baben offered to do a
re-map to help see if the D3 is sick, run it for a few days now
and the WOW IS THERE
I've been trying keep an eye on fuel average, but just screw it up
with the right foot every time, I just LOVE the acceleration.
I'll stretch the D3's legs next week end, going to Swaziland
to play in the mountains and see how it goes. D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

And I can honestly say I don't know why. I am investigating.....
OK we didn't do any scientific measurement but still, the difference with the remap was immediately noticeable.
If I hadn't witnessed it myself I woulda thought you and Deon were both nutters.
(now I only think Deon is...... )
Happy that you are happy with the remap though

What would be nice IMHO, if we had more control of the automatic gearbox in the
lower rev range. Being from 2000 to 2200 rpm, where small pedal inputs cause
the gearbox ECU to change down a gear ( 6th to 5th ). We have enough torque
even with a STD D3 here, personally I would say @ 3/4 pedal, perhaps a little more
before it should kick down. Perhaps a sport/econo button, gearbox ECM re-map
food for thought. D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.

The 'box is heuristic AFAIK, so perhaps it can be trained somehow by careful driving over the first 500km or so?

Is it not possibly a higher "normal" rail pressure in the later models ?
