Many thanks for all you kind comments and appreciation of my dropping in after so many years to make a post that clarifies this Steering wheel Kit availiabilty situation for the interested members here.
However words come cheap and as they say, a picture says a thousand words, so here is a picture for you
some may note the empty space and discrepancy between the remaining number of LH and RH boards
So here is another picture of the unopened boxes of the steering Wheel conversion kits bare PCBS, complete with our assigned BB part number and the last stock check quantity numbers.

It is really and truly very saddening for us to read just how quickly some have come to imagine and belive in our demise and imagined abandonment of assistance of Land Rover and D3 owners after we spent many so many years developing and introducing what we have. If we could not have continued to produce this Kit ourselves, even rudimentary logic never mind respect, means we would have at the very least offered the parts we have in stock and all required information for someone else.
Regards
Colin

I think, by your own admission Colin as you've not posted here for some quite considerable time, your silence has brought about speculation which was reinforced by items disappearing from your website.
Rightly or wrongly, you can see why people thought the writing was on the wall.
For what it's worth, I'm more confused than ever. Firstly you say you've discontinued these items then in the very next post you post a picture of a box full of them. I can't work out what's going on.
I wish you well with your expansion and hope to see you posting here again with more frequency if time permits. Mods:

Very open and honest response and lot of respect for coming on the forum to clarify your position.
I would still be interested in a final build if it happens and I have the money available.

After a number of E-mails and PM's asking about it, I would post up on this thread to publicly clarify things on the Steering Wheel Conversion Kit availiability situation, in the hope that doing so is seen as being for interested members benefit and not a breach of Commercial posting rules:
Quote:
they just said they won’t be making any more
We have avoided stating to anyone that we will definately not be making any more of these !!!
As many know and appreciate, despite their being quite limited demand for it, to help out those seeking to do this conversion, we put a huge amount of time, money and effort into developing this Kit over a very long Period, more as a side project to our normal business activities rather than some money making scheme.
These Kits are therefore hand built in very small numbers and they take a huge amount of Man hours.
Unfortunately a few months ago, due to unforseen circumstances, we were forced to make some tough decisions. One being to discontinue the building and supplying of these Kits, which of course seems like an odd thing to do .
While we hope and believe that this will/would be only be temporary, so as not to rule out any possibilities and avoid creating any false promises we have specifically not made any "If or when" responses to anyones availiability questions.
In fact here is a copy of a response made just a few days ago
Quote:
Sadly we have recently had to discontinue producing and providing the steering wheel conversion kit we once produced to assist Disco3 owners in this.
Which explains why you cannot find them on our Web site.
Although we would wish and hope to make them available again before much longer, we cannot provide an guarantees as to if or when this might be.
Sadly it seems many have taken and relayed our responses in only the most negative context possible and some may even imagine the worst is happening here at BBS.
The reality is however that it is very highly likely that we will return to producing and providing these Kits in the not so distant future, in the very least as a last opportunity batch.
I hope you appreciate the clarification
Colin

Dates suggest its current , I think what Colin is trying to say is BBS have about 140 sets of bare pcb boards ready to build.
He's none build hence none for sale, but it may not remain that way for long.
Building them is a manual job and quite labour intensive (I recall the early days of the prototyping, a few false dawns whilst components were finalised and LEDs refined) so a lot of effort went in.

Thanks for your post Colin - the PM you quoted above was to me and having read this thread earlier in the week I was intending to post a message along the lines that your reply to me suggested it was a temporary situation and that kits would most likely be available in the future - you've beaten me to it.

I believe I made it quite clear, as others have understood, that while we had discontinued producing this Kit, it was actually for reasons other than some imagined demise of BBS, regardless of my degree or lack thereof of participation here.
While we would not commit to any "when and even if" promises that we might re introduce it, we had always believed we would do so.
The pictures were just visual proof rather than just words of our investment and commitment in this and even if BBS were going the way of the Dodo, which is clearly not the case that seems imagined, these would have never ended up in some skip, as out of respect for the Members here alone, which is why I started this side project and worked so hard for so long on it, at the very least I would have rather donated them and all the other parts we have in stock, along with all the files and info required to someone able and willing to take over.
As it stands, and the only reason I post again here, although I don't like to offer any promises I was thinking along the lines of 8 or 10 weeks for us to catch up on our backlog of orders for our other products and start re building these kits. is to share the latest good news with you all.
I had a phone call this morning from an ex employee (Christian) asking if he could drop by for a coffee and a chat. He along with all other Ex Employees is welcome and a regular thing for us and our current and past BBS Family.
You will appreciate that Christian was a significant element in helping me sort out the final details of this Steering Wheel conversion kit and so is very familiar with it.
Seems Christian is needing a Job
He will be starting on Monday !!!!
So that 8 to 10 weeks I imagined yesterday when I posted, just got a lot shorter, which is something I am sure everyone will appreciate my posting up and sharing such good news.
Warmest Regards
Colin
