Microcat's search function realy s*cks. It couldn't even find some on part number. Fortunately they were, as you said, all on one page.
I hardly dare to ask but could you spent another 2 minutes in MicroCat finding the wiring looms needed, that would be most helpfull . Following your suggestion, I browsed through all the pages but did not come accross a loom that looked like doing the job.

For the followers of this project and thread, it's high time for another progress update.
It may well have been a few weeks now since i last posted an update, but don't think for one minute that i have been neglecting this project. In fact far from it as it has thrown one last curve at me that i never expected and in trying to overcome it, it has become more complex and time consuming than i could have possibly imagined, and in truth, i have considered cutting my losses and abandoning it altogether. But then i am very deep into it and Pete in particular has shown such support to me, i really want to get it finished and working acceptably.
In my Last update, i explained that i expected to have a final prototype within a week and this should be the final one.
Well it turned up and i built it and everything was fine with but one exception. That being, i noticed the 20 odd resistors which dropped the 12Volts for the back light LED'S were getting ridiculously hot.
By design these were grouped quite closely and so i produced another prototype modified to have bigger up rated resistors that were spread out more. Another week went by before i got this to build and test and much to my surprise, the impovement was not really good enough.
I have spent much of the past week completely re working my prototype almost from scratch to provide much more spacing and heat sinking for these now even more up rated resistors as well as doubling their numbers to better share the load.
I expect the prototypes to be with me in a few days and hope to build them just in time to bring a set or two to Billing with me.

Whats the standard arrangement for supplying the backlights? Is it just a bunch of resistors? Sounds like one of those never-ending stories, but hopefully worthwhile once you've cracked it. Hurry up though - I get my D4 in February

I ain't there in any official BBS capacity John.
So mostly you will find me helping my mate Pete out on his Bell Auto Services stand, where this wheel conversion can be seen in the flesh. Of course that's when i ain't scoffing bacon butties on the D3 stand, shooting the breeze with someone somewhere, or mooching around buying stuff or sleeping off a hang over
If you want to look at or pick up some equipment, then Pete (BAS) sells it already off his stand and if i am there i would happily help you with any advice or help you might need.

Very smart indeed ..in fact i like them so much i have just ordered a RRsport wheel with flappy paddles for the G4 to have a play with .
You dont realy understand whats involved until you see what Colin has had to do to get it any were near working G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Right ..getting excited about this mod now that i have seen the circuit boards in the flesh .
Got me a 2010 RRsport wheel with every button available and it looks great .At the moment only the heated steering wheel button works ..and im waiting for the modified boards to be finshed for the rest of the stuff
Flappy paddles
2 wires i have been tinkering with ..these change gears up and down when i apply an earth lead to either one .Obviously there is a neater soloution comming , but i like to play while im waiting

They do look sooo Cool.
TBH it was just as nice for me to be able to show and share the fruits of my not un substantial labour thus far as it was for you to see it in the flesh.
Now you have a wheel and as you are a beta tester, what i will do is sort you out a set of the modified boards up to the latest spec, so you can help field test the bits that are working so far as the more the merrier. Means everything will work except Flappy paddles and back light. As you saw and tested on Petes D3.
Also as i showed you the receiver, you can help me figure out the best location to integrate it into the vehicles wiring
The Heated works because the circuit is unchanged from teh D3 one and althought it resides on the same board which is why i have had to re create it on my modded versions, it is otherwise not connected to the other stuff.

Looking at the wiring there is 5 connectors .
One is the gear selector itself ( bit tight down there though ) and one is the transmission control module ( obviously behind the battery)
There are 3 more . One is right next to the gear selector ..and were i have taken mine from for testing . This is quite a large plug with plenty of room ( and a bit of spare flex if you unclip it from its holder ) .There is a bit of room there for a reciver ..and power could be pinched from the cool box ( wires there even if no cool box is present )
The last 2 connectors i have yet to find ..these are
C2674R/C2675R &
C2365R/C2366
I havent got any connector locations for these yet ( if any one has i would be greatful of a pic )
I will get some piccys of the connector and location im using at the moment when i swap my wheel back in the week ( need my cruise for my up and comming 4000 mile trip )
