A club can pay people for services etc. What and who they pay is up to the committee.Loving the power of the TDV8!

Do they have to re invest into the club. Fancy curtains for the club hut, better biscuits for the AGM or give to charity?
All serious questions not designed to cause friction
That just about sums a club up Mark. I work in the 'Club' market (golf clubs) and most are owned by the members, any profits are fully accountable, and used by the members (via an elected committee) to better the club, or keep the subs down.
Then there are the proprietory owned 'clubs' which are basically businesses that sometimes allow the members (customers?) to form a committe and make certain decisions about the way the club is run, but the proprietor keeps the profits.

This is my Personal input into this and the only post I'll make in this.
The idea of a formal Club being created has been discussed amongst various people for some considerable time, and I'm talking about the idea going back to before September last year. It's just taken a while and a lot of dedication to get it set up and there has been much input from a suprising ammount of people who contribute on this forum.
I wasn't a formal founder, but have been ever supportive of the idea since it was batted around at that time. Not as a replacement for the resource of this site, but as an additional outlet for the activities that contributors to this site undertake.
From my PERSONAL perspective, I wanted to be a part of a Club, not just a forum. This forum has been great, invaluable even, in it's breadth of knowledge and on many occassions the generosity of contributors to other contributors request for assistance, support has been absolutely un-paralleled. Long may this continue to be the case.
The DOC didn't do it for me & the generic 4x4 Clubs around also didn't fit what I wanted, mainly being focussed on Tricked up Def'ners.
I really don't know if the Disco3Club will give me everything that I want, that is down to all of the registered members of the Club to decide, but for sure, I wanted to give it a try.
I will still be contributing to this Forum, which may irk some people perhaps, but I have gained an awful lot of knowledge, which I am happy to share with others both as a continuing contributor to this forum and as a contributor and supporter of the Disco3Club.
This Forum doesn't give me everything that I want, the Club may not give me everything that I want, but between these two resources, i think I'll have most bases covered.
This is my personal viewpoint based on MY requirements. Those people who don't want to join a Club are fully entitled to not join any. But to demonise anyone else for wanting to do so, is IMHO a little churlish.
No-one likes change, but change must come or forever more we will stand still in our spaces of time.....
I ask only one question (i'm not really looking for an answer as I have my solution already)......
IF 6 months ago, someone would have posted the question of setting up a formal Club on this forum, would it have had the same reaction?
I don't know the answer, but I suspect it would result in similar comments by similar contributors

So you managed to pump the 110 out then Club Exped trailer
Club Timed Climate
Club Flappy paddle steering wheel
Club 300bhp
Club Prospeed test pilot/lab rat
Club National Luna Stella conditioner
I guess as most D3/D4 owners are reasonably well off, if not rich, £30 is nothing, but it still seems a lot for what's on offers, i'm interested to see what I get for my hard earned pennies before I sign up. if they let me in

errr.... dunno
1. I'm not involved in the clubs membership
2. I'm not fully aware of all the statutory rules regarding clubs
3. My only exposure to 'clubs' was as a contracts manager in the RAC before it became a business, accountability and openess was King, I do know that any 'profit' had to be re-invested into the club's resources, this was usually in the form of equipment, training or reduction of cost of membership. Clearly, the RAC was on a different scale but unless the law has changed, there should be no difference in operation

or if the club is disolved any money held in the club's account must be split between all current members (less any outstanding bills).Faultmate MSV2 EXTREME

Guys,
I would just like to post on here to hopefully clarify the points about profit. Personally I am not happy about using Martins forum to discuss this but as it's raised on here I'll answer.
All club membership fees go into a club bank account. Expenditure out of that account has to go through a committee.
The committee at the moment is made up of a number of founding members to get things up and running. An AGM is already in the diary for October where elections will be held.
None of the commitee are paid or will make any money out of the club. People are giving their time and effort for free - hard to believe I know, but some people like to do things that benefit others. Ask any Scout leader!
As for profit - the club might end up with any at the end of the year, but if it does it will no doubt be used to fund something for the club i.e. Hi Viz vests for kids or be used to run an open event to promote the club, or given to Charity, it certainly won’t be going to an individual and by then the elected committee will decide what will be done with the any money in the account.
It is a club just like any other car owners club. It has a committee, constitution and its account will be freely available at the end of the year. We have nothing to hide.
One other point I'd like to make is that the idea for the club came about at the Land Rover Owners show in Peterborough when a number of people were discussing all the other owner clubs that were present. The club hasn't been built in hiding, but it would be foolish to launch a club without having everything in place, I think we would get much more criticism if we launched a club without a committee, constitution etc. etc. We wrote to Martin as a courtesy, Martin published his best wishes on here but it was still before we were ready to launch.
The club is a club and people are welcome join, but as Countrywide has stated you can be a contributor of the Disco3 forum and club member or just one or none, it’s entirely up to the individual.
The club is not in competition with the Disco3 forum.D3 HSE MY05 Auto
