Just started the install today. Just needs a bit of trimming to get the fit fit just so. Looking at others installs can you tell me if you have cut the rubber mat? I plan to cut mine in order to hide the bottom edge of the surround. Still need to install the power leas and tv antenna which I plan to do through the week. Took some photos which I will upload when complete.
Cheers

I was just thinking where are everybody else's pics I did cut my mat when I did it on the D3. I took away the rear part but left the ridge that ape rates front and rear portions as this provided extra grip for the surround Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:
"What is the first rule when overlanding?"
I would Reply:
"Duratrac"

I'm interested to see how sensitive the microphone is for the bluetooth. Hopefully it'll work behind the fascia. If not, I'll have to extend the wires for the microphone to bring it closer, or maybe drill a hole in the fascia in front of the mic. that may be enough for it to work?
I'm also going to see if it's possible to connect the satnav to the original stereos phone mute function. Then when the sat nav speaks, it'll come out of the front speakers, lower the music volume in the rear as per standard phone kit. Or it sounds like a good idea if it'll work.....
Mix that with the land rover logos... it'll look very original!

Yep, could do that fat bloke I was just wondering how things could be fully hidden, yet accessible if say you wanted to remove the sat nav / surround / wiring etc, without having to pull the 'H' trim off every time.

If you have the cubby hole would it not be easier due to the surround not needing any cutting as it fits a D4. But for less than £15 for the surround may be worth getting one and having a play.

You could use a mini piggyback fuseholder in fuse 58 to power this. I had my sat nav powered via the cable plugged into the cigarette lighter socket but it looks a lot neater when its not there

Thanks B16 KJR, That's the sort of thing I want to do (ie. not mess up the original wiring) + the 1490TV plug in power adaptor is rather a large lump, and I'd much rather it be hidden away.

Thats what I felt too. So we took a piggyback fuse holder and ran the cable up to a mini illuminated on/off switch fitted in the top glovebox, the return from the switch went to a cigar lighter socket fitted behind the lower glovebox which the sat-nav adapter plugs into. The various earths were just taken from earthing points behind the glovebox. Everything was then cable tied firmly to the dash framework.
Now when I use my sat-nav its simply a case of flipping the switch in the top glovebox and thats that. There is nothing to see and no cutting into cables etc etc.

Just finished the install. Just need to sort the power lead got the original fed down behind the H trim and plugged in the 12v socket. Will integrate this better when I have some more time. Ran the tv antenna up to the windscreen one on each side reception spot on with loads of channels. Took some photos which I will upload tomorrow. All looking 8) though.
