Nice one fat bloke thing is I have the traffic aerial but I've never seen the traffic icon Can you take a photo of where you have placed the aerial, I think it is in the same place as mine. I know the traffic info is sent via a fm signal and I might not be in a strong fm area but I've been out and about driving and it's still not shown!

That photo was 95&% done shaved a tad off bottom, cut back part of rubber mat and used a piece of alunimium to hold bottom of sat nav which is fixed to middle bracket as Dave has his now. It fits even better now, flush at bottom and Lad my traffic signal is bottom left hand corner of w/screen....And no mecanno as no boys so used 90 degree bracket flattened out as used in building trade instead of mecanno...Trouble is my mrs says i'm a sad b-----d should get out more but i said i don't get enough pocket money

I have never seen the traffic symbol thing either, but it has redirected prior to a few jams. It seems to work fine but I dont know what the true "working fine" is to judge against.
My ipod connection is on the blink now though, I must have hit a connection whilst fiddling so the whole new and old trims need to come out again, it can wait to the weekend though when I am thinking of installing a proper ipod dock type thing in the shelf of the H trim using the LR connector but with the normal household type seat / reecess for the ipod.
My Mrs is happy for me to mess around with bits of car as it gives her some peace. It also keeps the father in law busy if he comes round - but it does leave her to go shopping with her mother and spends more money than I save doing my own maintenance and making Heath Robinson contraptions Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:

Here's my current solution... the screen is too large for the D4 frame i think.
I made a small black plastic cover on the left hand side to hide the usb power and audio out connectors (and fill the gap)
i do prefer the 'factory look' using the D4 frame though

PS: i know it's not a D3 but the hole is the same, no?

With the trim it's just about ok to view a 5" screen as mine is so any bigger you would need to enlarge the middle bit which could be tricky so stick with what you got...

I can't find anywhere to activate the traffic, it just said it would activate itself. I've took a couple of photos of my install, poor photos because of light and using iphone.

Must say they all look 8) . But some more info regarding the wiring would be appriciated. Also anyone done this using a TomTom. My TomTom regulary crashes so need to poke the reset button on the underside of the device which is a real pain. Anyone else have this problem.
Cheers

I have a tomtom 1000 live but wanted to use the ecoroute hd connection to show engine data, as in last photo, also the garmin I have allows me to watch TV and has a line input for the rear camera. As for the satnav crashing, the garmin hasn't (YET) but I can remove it, with a bit of a faff if needed. My tomtom hasn't crashed while I've used it. Wiring has come up from the 12v socket on lower left centre console up to glovebox to a multi 12v socket, then goes behind dash to window so I can pick up traffic info (but at the moment I can't pick it up), then using a mini-b usb extension lead back to the centre console and comes up from beneath the satnat to the satnav itself. So if I sell car I can remove everything and cover hole with mat and no holes can be seen.

Cheers fellas!!
Garmin model is 1490tv. Might see about a replacement traffic wire too!!! As for the landrover logo, well this works differently depending on which model you have but for a 1490tv, get a picture of the net, then, you need to know the pixel size of your satnav, ( in my case W=480 H=272 ) so make a new photo at the size of your satnav screen and fill the picture with the logo, then transfer it to the satnav picture folder via the pc, switch on your satnav, goto to settings and pictures and tap the landrover logo and on the lefthand side there is a letter i, tap this and it asks you if you want this picture as your start up screen, say yes and there you go. Hope you understand that
By the way, mine does take a while to load the maps, is this normal?

I have installed a speed camera database too (pocket GPS world), so it warns you of up coming speed cameras (all types) and shows the logos (the type of speed trap with speed limit) on the map too. Says the type of trap too!!
I have a very good LR logo in high resolution which will scale down well - used it for my new audio install couple of weeks back ( check my gallery ). Pm Mel an off forum mail address and I will send it soonest.
