Bearing in mind that my indy is proposing to do the job right - replacing the arms and taking the car for wheel alignment.
That still sounds like a lot of money to me.

Cost me around that for my D3 18 months ago but that was at the main dealer. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

I must admit, I knew it'd be pricey but was expecting £700-£800.

Now you've got me. It's the rear front bushes that have gone and they've quoted to replace the arms. Does that make sense? '06 TDV6 HSE, Java, Black Leather, Logic 7, Privacy, Steps

Yep, they'll want to replace the arms as it's cheaper than trying to get the bushes out.
A normal thing, they did that with mine as it's more costly in labour to try and replace bushes.
Where abouts are you in the UK, Dave?

ARD have quoted £257 +VAT for the following:
1. Gearbox Flush
2. Replace rear upper arm (its the upper arm front bush thats gone but decided to change whole arm.)
I have bought the arm from TLO approx. £80
3. Full alignment

btw did you check my edited addittion to my post above?
Also the work I had done encompassed both front & rear components,
[although I only had one wishbone replaced - they could get the bush out of the other ok] ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

Got some more detail.
They're quoting 9hrs labour @ £55/hr, wheel alignment @ £60, and the front arms themselves @ £105 each

If you supply the parts yourself from tlo you may save a few quid
But sub £1k sounds about right for all that lot

My local indy did front lower arm replacement for sub 400 and that included 120 each for the arms. But no alignment.

It takes about 3.5 hours to replace both lower front arms with new units with bushes pre pressed in - Depending on how far away the wheel alignment shop is it takes about 1 hour to set up, adjust and pack up wheel alignment. That also includes freeing off rear adjustment points so wheel align man can adjust rather than fight the rust!!!
£1100 sound a bit steep but it depends on distance to wheel alignment and the hr rate I suppose
