Just a heads up for anyone that has done this mod, please can you check that your locking diffs work with the mod in place.
One of the facebook guys noticed that his didn't work after making the mod, but worked fine once the mod was reversed.
Can anyone else who has done this mod, check this to see if it's an unavoidable byproduct of going into FFRR mode.
Cheers
Just checked my diff lock, all is working as it should. Not sure why he's having issues, I would have him make sure all of his software for the touchscreen and dynamic control module are at the latest levels.

I can live with some of the features not operating correctly in order to have a backup camera, customers on the other hand, at least the US ones, want perfection.
So if I'm getting this correctly, completing this modification allows you to install a back up camera that functions as it should without a GVIF unit? Or is a GVIF unit still required?

It depends how you want your reverse cam to function.
I think I'm correct in stating if you want the camera to automatically appear on the nav screen when you select reverse, you need a GVIF.
If you're happy selecting the camera by pressing a few buttons on the screen every time you reverse then the FFRR mod is the one for you. Mods:

It is not entirely correct Narpy.
If you mod your screen in FFRR and enable the reverse camera in CCF, you don't need GVIF.
When you select reverse, screen select the camera automatically
but, as mentioned in previous post, the only issue is a little crop of the image showed.
If you don't want accept this little compromise, you need a GVIF Interfacee

Ah OK, so if you edit the CCF, as well as running in FFRR mode, the screen will auto show the cam providing you have the diagnostic kit to tell the car it has a camera fitted.
That makes sense. Mods:

Like lots of CCF mods available it is not perfect but if the benefits outway the negatives it is a good mod.
For me I needed a quick and cheap rear view camera after missing an entire Toyota when reversing or rather not missing it! As my 3 year old was in a busy nursery I wanted to be safe when picking him up.Series 1 V8

For use in this mod, remember to buy an NTSC cam as default, not PAL
NTSC/PAL good
PAL/NTSC no good

Irritating decission to make.
I knew that there is a probable issue with the phone locking up in FFRR mode but had it today on an incomming call. Thing is I like FFRR mode as I not only have the rear camera but I get all my contacts available not a small number, plus they are easy to access and read on the touch screen.
I can use D3 mode and test mode for the camera when needed or add a GVIF unit but I will lose the extra contacts!
Tonight I put it back to D3 mode so I will test it tomorrow.
Does anyone know why I have less contacts in D3 mode even with a D4 module?Series 1 V8

How can this be? Have done the the navi RRS mod on my D3, have checked and found the camera in the hidden menu, it did work.
I have a IIDTOOL BT, yesterday I found the rear camera in CCF menu selected it for activation, did run a read to car process that took a while, but still no camera when I put the gear leaver in reverse.went in and write back the stored settings....
When I now go into the CCF I'm not able to find the rear camera there to select at all.....
What to do? ? ?Rolf

Found out what was causing my problems, it was one of the wires on the obd2 connector that was a bit loose so it was pushed in so it had no connection with the IIdtool so I could not get connection with the audio-module and sett up the cam there in the CCF
Big thanks to Patrick at GAP for hiss patience and help Rolf

Let's kick an old topic..
I know it's been a while since someone posted here but I have a question.
Edit: lol, thougt last post was on 22th of july by Nr1rolf. But he's a member since then.. So not that old, this topic.
Has there been any progress on getting the menus to work like they should? Or am I missing something?
I just did the mod, also made a switch to choose between LR and RR.

Hi
I Wonder if anyone has notice if there is a difference in what light you cut the wire? I have done the mod in 2 D3 now and it seems like the one I did in sunlight is more light on after modding it then the other I did in daylight but on a cloudy day. But consider both of them as very good to use daily, pleased with the mod and rear view camera, and think the phone and radio screen are nice also .Rolf
