furnitureman,
From what I have read in the forum you can only get the contacts on the screen in FFRR mode if you use the D4 module but then you also get many problems (like system freezing, etc) so it is not worth it.
Regarding text messages I do not think you can get them on the screen in FFRR mode (at least this is my experience in my car).

Jacksmart10,
strange, it should work. Have you tried a hard reset? (just in case...)

I mate, you need all the parts suggested by rennos:
1 x 20-50KΩ photoresistive sensor
1 x 43KΩ resistor
How much would this cost and can you ship to the USA?
Panoramix,
You have another interested North American customer. I'm doing the mod on a NAS D3 (LR3), my camera and RCA/Farka cable have been ordered. I'll just need a dimmer sensor. Please let me know if you'd be willing to make another. I work at a Rover Dealership and will let you all know if the camera can be enabled via an SDD interface.
Thanks for the assistance!

Hi pwwalter,
no problem for the dimmer, I'll write you in PM
I don't how the SDD works or if that tool have "user" limitation or similar.
In my IIDTool I can found "Parking camera" in CCF, Audio System section.
You neet to set it in "Rear camera fitted"

Just a heads up for anyone that has done this mod, please can you check that your locking diffs work with the mod in place.
One of the facebook guys noticed that his didn't work after making the mod, but worked fine once the mod was reversed.
Can anyone else who has done this mod, check this to see if it's an unavoidable byproduct of going into FFRR mode.

Max.
I'm installing the camera this evening. I'll let you know if I need the dimmer unit. We're pretty much a factory shop here, don't want to be "modding" any customer cars, that will lead to headaches.
I can live with some of the features not operating correctly in order to have a backup camera, customers on the other hand, at least the US ones, want perfection.
Not sure it would be worth the headache.
I'll let you know soon!
Cheers.
Paul

I have this working in RR Mode, works great and the brightness control works perfect with the diode method. The one question I have and can't seem to find an answer for is, why is the video in zoom mode when I put it in reverse? When I go into diagnostic menu, I can go from Normal to Wide to Wide 2 and the picture is normal. Any help would be appreciated? Is there a way to keep this permanent on Wide 2?
