I get about 14.5mpg when towing my camper trailer, about 16mpg without it around town and about 23 on the freeway without it. 2005 4.0L SE. Little suction cup mirror on windscreen to see the kids, foldaway reflective sunscreen from Supercheap Auto. Redarc remote head brake controller. Traxide dual battery kit.
Before adding the two stroke oil and using supermarket fuel I was getting 22/23 mpg. Since making the switch to shell saver and oil I've gone to 26. Today on a return motorway trip from Preston to Solihull I averaged 35!!!

But has anyone actually managed 600 miles from one tankful yet???
Yes.
First time I drove mine (with a knack erred TC and sloppy gearbox), had a run from Braintree to Bradford, back to Braintree, then back to Bradford over a weekend.
610 to almost bone dry.
Will see if I can do better once new gearbox and TC fitted though I won't hold my breath

Iv'e just calculated my first fuel usage using 'Road Trip' for the iPhone and I have done 501 miles on a full tank and averaged 24.1MPG, which, considering I only use the vehicle for short local trips and very occasional B roads, I'm chuffed with.
500 to tank with it saying 26 in the tank remaining but how much can you trust the computer & reserve?...
Motorways everyday - 28-32.1 mpg @70mph

Mpg
My wife and i are very sad as far we compete every week with mpg, the mem sahib driver 57plate freelander 2 and i have a54 disc 3, she drives 18miles into nottingham centre , some motorway A roads and town driving, 180 per week, she returns around 38 to 38.5 mpg, £35 and potters at the wknd on whats left, i drive 28 miles some motorway A roads 10 roundabouts, 1 set of lights, and a ringroad, 280 per week put £55 in and use whats left at the weekend, my average ends up at 35 to 36 mpg, well impressed , egrs not done, mileage is 65000. And yes i drive with the lorries and take it steady, the mem sahib does the same,
I have been averaging around 16.5 for around town stop and go traffic and about 19-20 for highway on my '06 LR3 V8.

Increased mpg!
My TDV6 was averaging 37 mpg (trip computer reading) until my engine warning light came on for a few days.
It's gone off now but the Disco's currently averaging 40.1 now! That was on a 300 mile journey yesterday with about 500kg's of kit in the boot, some on the back seat and a passenger... Traffic was fairly busy so was sitting 60-70
I have been on 235/65/17 wrangler tyres but getting a set of 235/70/17 Hankooks fitted today so will see if that makes any difference.

spirited driving round the dales has dropped this to 19.7- both more than the 15-17 we normally get day to day.
love driving it though - soooo smooth and I can overtake something which is an adventure in the D2cheers

I can normally get over 30 mpg on motorways. Those reporting from the USA should remember that we use imperial gallons in the UK. An imperial gallon is 20 fluid ounces whereas the US gallon is only 16.

Hey guys
I had the D4 now for about 9000 km and the display is showing around 20/21 mpg (11.4 L/100km)
Seems a bit high for a diesel. Gonna try adding 2 stroke oil.
I'm driving about 70/30 city/highway2012 D4 SDV6 HSE - Heavy Duty, Alpine Roof, Sidesteps, modded LR RAI, Stebel Nautilus, Trailer hitch cargo carrier - Best Car I've ever owned
