Yes, the 500 I just bought from Ian was a DR500GW-HD.
The PowerMagic monitors the state of your car's battery and automagically shuts off power to the Blackvue once the battery drops below a certain threshold (12v or 11.8v) or after a certain period of time (can't remember what the options are for that but mine is set to 72 hours). These are configurable via DIP switches on the unit.

Dead easy to fit 30min max
Generally most
People don't fit one at rear I certainly have not got one in the rear and it worked fine to demonstrate I wasn't at fault when I was hit i'm behind
