What's the typical bill for a 3.0V6 when these let go? Work done by a reputable indi rather than main dealer...?
Considering a 2nd hand one and my parents D4 is just out of warranty too...

12 - one a month..Land Rovers never get bogged! - merely delayed
Land Rovers never break down! - merely fail to proceed.
Land Rovers never leak oil - it’s a built in anti-rust feature

I reckon 15
Cost for me is £1,800 for the work and £4-6,000 for engine dependent upon mileage and age

It varies considerably depending on the engine ie. new short engine vs rebuild. For a rebuild, you will be looking at 3k plus a 1k surcharge for the block and a 1k surcharge for the crank if they are not reusable. All plus VAT.Kev

It reminds me of a Pyrenees jolly i did a few years ago where of all the cars there, maybe 8, all bar 2 of us had a replaced engine under the bonnet. By the end of the trip, that was just me as t’other original engine didn’t make it home intact. And mine packed up a couple of years later, when some of the original participants were in their 2nd replacement engine. Maybe my friends are just unlucky, who knows.

FWIW, we have only done 2 engines this year. Both were cars we hadn't looked after previously My D3 Build Thread
