Yes I know, I was not being sarcastic I was trying to say that my home made anti theft solution means that even if you had my keys you would not be able to sart the engine.
It requires a certain sequence of hidden (in plain view) switches to be activated before the engine will start.
Locking the car again will de-activate one of the switches with the other being switched off manually.
Sorry for any confusion.Gone 2016 Landmark D4

Long before CANBus my boss had a classic MG softop (therefore vulnerable) car.
Also being a skinflint he didn't want to pay for an aftermarket immobiliser. Instead in the glove box he fitted a multi-pole socket with various circuits in and out of the back of it. The car would only start with the matching plug that had jumpers between the relevent pins to make the circuits and enable the car to start and run.A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.

My solution does not connect to the canbus, no point really since the scumbags know how to send a signal to the canbus to start the engine by breaking into the canbus wiring behind the bumpers (apparently ).Gone 2016 Landmark D4

Watching a clip on the news yesterday of a bunch of scrotes rocking up to somebodies drive in High-Viz vests and winching the poor BMW up on to a Bevertail before driving off reminded me that I do something automatically, without really thinking, that my Father taught me years ago.
It’s obviously not so easy with a 2.7Tn Automatic in Park with the EPB on, but the above has always been a pretty easy option for thieves.
When I park somewhere I’m not sure of with a lot of space behind I always try to park nose in, and once in place give the wheel a couple of turns left or right.
That way dragging the car out of the space causes the front end to swing round awkwardly.
Again all you are doing is making your car less attractive than the one down the road, but everything is worth doing if it could help.
Reversing in and turning the wheel isn’t as effective because pulling the car from the front will drag the front wheels sideways.Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

Surround the vehicle with concertina, a mine field and a 50000v electrical fence. And keep an armed guard detachment in tow.
Or, just keep up the insurance premiums and enjoy the replacement Defender 2015 LR4 HSE Lux Aintree Green

If you have a claim against your policy for a stolen D4 you may not be able to afford the premium for a replacement Defender!Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.
