Theft from trucks, not the trucks themselves was/is a big problem, especially abroad.
I used to have Yale type vehicle locks fitted, at around £80 each it was peace of mind, that and disabling the passenger door lock being operated via the fob and/or drivers key lock.
Yes it was a pain to manually lock both doors, but safeguarding my valuables was the main concern, using a variety of 'kill' switches covered the vehicle being started.
As for trackers, these really only work when the police are interested, and that is where the whole idea falls flat.

Be aware the latest devices that the thieves use target the stop start wiring, not the main ignition circuit so you will need to protect that as well if you are going down the start inhibit route…

Wonder if just removing the SS battery from the circuit would fix that.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a Dummy OBD port with 12V power?
As mentioned my actual one is now moved/hidden, but I'm thinking that a dummy one that can be plugged into and provide power will waste some of the timeframe a thief is comfortable with spending trying to start the car.Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

At the risk of sounding like a stuck record....
Just remove the OBD port, unclick loom, hide it in a place of your choosing.
Its free.... £0 spend..... takes minutes.
Proven to work by my own experience.A mod a week until I have nothing to improve or add.

Mine has been moved already and there is just a hole in the std place at the moment.
My thinking is that if there is not one at all a thief will know immediately, and possibly start ripping the panels out to try and find it, thinking it may simply be loose behind.
But with a dummy port that initially shows power they will spend a bit of time trying to connect, wasting some of the timeframe they are comfortable to sit in the car trying to steal it.
The more of that time is used up the less likely they are to start ripping the panels out trying to find it.
Of course I'm hoping the obvious Disklok fitted to the wheel will deter them in the first place.
It's far harder to remove than a simple bar where the wheel itself can be cut.Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

Is that one you can personally recommend having fitted one yourself?
Or just one you found on EBAY?
It looks like an extension cable that just has cables for the 12V supply from the original OBD Port, I was hoping to hardwire a Dummy port with a completely separate supply, although I could always just cut the end of it and hardwire it.Heaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

I bought this one and have bought several over the years…
This will help if you are servicing yourself or you trust your dealer and effectively gives you a piggyback obd plug which you can hide elsewhere… thus the power only one goes into the original obd port that the thieves will use believing it is the original port… the other end gives you a relocated obd to use when you need it to hide where you want it…
I just bought the cheap one which will not allow communication… I can tell you that that do work as I forgot all about it when i put my car in for service at a JLR dealer.. when I got it back they could not reset the service mileage count! I had to take the car back to them subsequently!

not quite as simple as it sounds, not in all vehicles anyway - maybe some looms are different to others. I checked mine and the OBD loom is part of a much larger loom, and just spurs off with about 15cm - prior to that its all part of a much thicker bunch of wires and no way to separate it.
If I can only hide it up to 15cm away then any thief with half a brain will find it.
Also there are not any cable ties as mentioned in earlier threads - its all spiral wound with cloth.
I have made alternative changes instead.

Had a few car thefts where we live recently and spotted a van checking out our driveway and our other car, with a torch at 4am this Morning, though the Disco was locked round the back out of view behind locked gates. Think they mat have spotted my Mercedes there previously, but that got changed last week for another car (mercs seem to be the choice for thieves round here recently)
So, going to up security.
With the relocating OBD ports. What is to stop the thief just following the cable back to where the real OBD socket is ? I guess we are relying on them being confused why it isnt working when he plugs into it and also their time.

The thieves are relying on getting in quick and away…
Some cars they can access the obd without triggering the car alarm thus they can teach a car a new key silently and surreptitiously… other cars they use a lock pick to open the car door but because the car door has been opened manually it sets the car alarm off… by placing a device in the obd within so many seconds will silence it.. so their device immediately starts to communicate with the car for the same process…if they can’t stop the alarm blasting then then know that they are on borrowed time …they certainly will not stick around to try and remove trim panels and climb in with a torch to try and find why it won’t communicate.. they will just leg it!
They will only spend time on some thing if the risk to them is minimal…
