Thanks for your support and for the various PM's of information and additional parts.
I don't think that this is a case of taking it to court , JLR will have a much bigger legal team, but more a case of getting some proper technic analysis of both broken and specifically an 'on its last legs' pump which we have not been able to find yet.
The ultimate aim is to get a TSB issued for consistent action on the models affected for rectification BEFORE failure when queried or a proper recall.
I'll speak to the Forensic investigator on Monday to see the potential plan of action. Bodsys Brake Bible

Count me in too please
I know i fall into this category and will also keep any items for testing etc.
If there is a flaw, which there seems to be then its worth finding out more and hopefully getting something sorted with LR regardless of who might fall into the dreaded category, it could be something different next time,

Just had the big 105K service done by Stratstone. Specifically asked them to check the oil pump housing after I read about it on here... I have it on the receipt that it was checked and found okay, so I'm hoping this gives me some comeback if it does crack. Fingers crossed

Hope yours will be ok in the future - I am surprised that Stratstone did not recommend fitting a replacement - "just in case".
The suspect item is staring you in the face when changing the front belts and although it is a bit of a faff to replace, it is a relatively inexpensive item. I would hate to be in the position of trying to "take on" Landrover after a catastrophic breakdown.
I would also be a bit worried that a set of new belts and the unscrewing and re-screwing of a few bolts may be just enough additional stress to cause a crack to appear.
It will be good to get a definitive answer instead of lots of conjecture and anecdotal evidence - rock on Bodsy... 2007 Base D3 - Buckingham Blue

I'm in, be good to have a scientific diagnosis of the failure mode of the pump casting.
Mines due belts etc next year but may well get them done earlier along with the pump for peace of mind (if it doesn't go bang first).
TBH I'd be supporting this even if my vehicle was one that wasn't affected.

Happy to support this, with an '06MY I am not convinced that this couldn't happen to me TBH, in fact I could have sworn I read about it happening to a pre '07 RRS, but may be mistaken. Best of Luck Bodsy

As said on the other thread Flack's doing mine in a couple of weeks, but it still es me off when I'm having to pay for something that's basically a design fault! It's better to burn out, than fade away...
