This is the initial sign up for you to pledge a donation to help fund a forensic investigation into the ongoing weak oil pump casing which dealers are consistently refusing to acknowledge as a problem.
I'll work out the best way of moving this forward, but this is a place marker to gauge support.
This is an ongoing really serious issue and had Flack not replaced the oil pump casing on the link above, it surely would it have been long before another blown engine.
I have helped various people get full or partial funded replacement engines and it is about time Land Rover acknowledged the problem and issued a TSB to replace these failure parts with the 4th generation oil pump casing currently in use.

I've sent the relevant information to Douglas, I'll have a conversation with him later this week.
For this, I need to be clear on a few ground rules so people don't get upset.
I'll set up a PayPal account specifically for this. Once setup, I'll send the info out for everyone.
As I get costs etc coming in and before I take the first commitment, I'll report back to inform you.
If we get to the end of this process and there is any money left over, I would suggest that it is donated to Charity, Help for Heroes springs to mind as it is generally well supported amongst the Landrover fraternity.
Or if there is another campaign as suggested that we could build up a fund for, then that also sounds good.
Personally I'm only committing to following this action through, not to be the conduit for any possible different actions on other issues in the future.
I'll continue to update as I get further info.

Indicative cost of a proper analysis and report is £500 +vat. Now if a business was able to swallow up this vat, that could really help. FYI I've not committed to any action yet. I'm just giving a heads up, so the £600 is very light by the time the other collation of information is accounted for as that price is just for the metallurgical analysis and subsequent detailed report using someone that Douglas has used very successfully on many occasions.
My time is zero charge for this just in case anyone asks and I'm not linked to or being paid by anyone who I'm working with on this. Just wanted to make that bit clear before anything crops up as it's your money people. Bodsys Brake Bible

I'm in as I have a 57 plate due for the big service this year
D3 57 xs Stornaway grey
D2 02 commercial silver gone but a great servant and won't be forgotten
but the tenner in the grand scheme of things if it funds an investigation by an independent expert bring it on...
I have some sources of expertise that I currently use who are world class materials / metallurgists & another who has finite element analysis on metal failures knowledge.
As a suggestion:
1) there been an equivalent issue with the other version of the same engine ? (Jaguar, Peugeot, Citroen & presumably Ford)
2 just what model years are affected ? (I know its '07) but are there any vehicle numbers we ought to be aware of
3) are there any on here who have lost their engines ? - & have evidence that the cause was oil pump casing failure....without this the data going back to LR won't mean anything
daft as it may seem I have kept all the parts that have failed on my D3 - just for the kind of feed back investigation (Auto gear lever quadrant, ac pipes, wheel nuts)BREXIT - done properly.

Im supporting this
Despite the fact it could end up talking myself out of a lot of work, IMHO, it is a fundamental flaw with the parts fitted, that Land Rover really should be acknowledging

Bl I don't think it will be a struggle to find people who have hade ngine failure as a direct result of this issue, I totally agree with your points regarding finding out if this has effected jags/pug/Citroen. Maybe TLO will be able to help with knowing exactly which vin ranges were fitted with the substandard pump casing?
Either way, a worthy cause and hopefully this will result in a decent outcome

Power to the informed people, happy to support this investigation. I would suspect that JLR will have a bigger fighting fund though Paul Redding

Mines an 06 ...
But all the help I have had since being on here its the least I can do to help others ...
I'm in D4 Front upgrade/cut back wings n things 'taking a long time but getting there'.
D4 rear upgrade - Narpys helped with that bit
Flack for problem solving and D4 Bluetooth Install/ D4 Heated Steering wheel with Flappy paddles n BBS enabling kit
Disco Mikeys work - Serviced, EGR blanking and 4x4 software upgrade, 3 flash indicators.
B.A.S - FBHIC. Uncle Rays spare wheel protector. Beanie Silver Black badges.

Yep agree with Bobs comment and the land rover dealers I've dealt with didn't event think there was common FBH problem so no wonder land rover themselves fail to acknowledge problems though I suspect a lot of it comes down to the same old thing... MONEY
Count me in D4 HSE Lux MY16 Club Waitomo
D3 HSE MY06 missing her still…
..... I would suspect that JLR will have a bigger fighting fund though
Course they have & always will...their fighting fund is made entirely from profits
however they have a customer base who they can treat whichever way they want or think appropriate
this is judged in the real world of customer perception...
some makers stand over their products - some dont
those who do keep their existing customer base & attract others who learn that J/LR are more interested in being good suppliers than making a fast getaway.
this who dont fail...by losing their business & they deserve this.BREXIT - done properly.
