Poland 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 SE Auto Loire BlueDiscovery 4

This discussion is very interesting but I see nobody mentions the D3/4 ability to venture off the tarmac. Even the present D3 when cleaned and waxed looks very good and presentable one can take it to posh restaurant or to the wedding not stirring the Censored up but then..... next morning I can pack it up with gear put waffle boards on the rack and some jerry cans and go to say Pyrenees or Iceland with no stress or hesitation am I gonna make it ...

I love the facelift of new D4 I am getting and companies (British ones) who provide protection or expedition equipment for D4 which is so practical as well as so subtle and well made it does not look either aggressive or dangerous but very purposeful making D3/4 into proper overland vehicle without changing it's posh looks

Who from Volvo forum can say the same about the support and user knowledge base and user to user support like on here?

You do not get this with Volvo which none of the car magazines mention and I think most of us here buy D3/4 for it's heritage and versatility which was on top of my list of things to look for in a new car.

Although I am Polish I have never had other private car then LR and i am feeling sad LR goes away from heritage those vehicles carried for 25 years (in disco case) and making replacements into X5 lookalikes cos it will sell better

I know it is progress and all but ....

I am sticking to LR4 when it arrives for as long I had D3 and I am sure I will love driving it even more then my old bus

Thumbs Up

Two very different motors..........

I doubt very much you would ever see the Volvo properly off road! I know which I prefer!

Saw one of these new xc90s around Tromsø this morning, they certainly won't be earning any rewards for beauty. Shocked

I notice the TV ad for the XC90 proudly states " made BY Sweden". Really? That's the best they can do to keep the connection? I suppose it avoids Made in China. Lol

Hopefully going to test drive the new XC90 on Wednesday, my local indy garage is getting one on demo for a few days. My D4 isn't due for change for another 18 months ish (depending on residuals/new prices) but always great to have a look at the options.
Its a shame the new disco is so far away and will probably be so expensive when it is launched, will report back when I've had a go! Thumbs Up

Well this afternoon I drove the XC90 It was a fairly well loaded inscription with plenty of toys. Well what can I say, I was very impressed with it. It drives well and I think Volvo have done well with the styling. It might not have the ground clearance and until it has had a good off-road test I guess we will not know its abilities but I am coming round to the idea that my next car may not be a disco.
I'm not due to change for 12 to 18 months but the XC90 currently sits very high up the list. I love my disco but I am bored of waiting for the new model, it still looks good but am not going to buy the last of an old model and then crave the new one for 3 years until I can have a new one.
A change is still a long way off so I'm sure I will explore the options available

Scotland 2012 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 HSE Auto Firenze RedDiscovery 4

I had a walk round, and a seat in one at the Royal Highland Show last week....
First impressions are that it's a big step up in quality from the previous one,and is much better looking in the metal than the photos. Its actually quite handsome in a slightly understated way and much better proportioned than the last one.
It was the top of the range model (3 levels to choose from) and fully loaded for the show, but it was still stickered at a whisker under £65k which I thought was a lot of money (did include the £3k stereo option though)
Not in the market, but if I was it would definitely be on my short-list Thumbs Up

I thought the level of quality was as good if not better than the disco, @65K (I imagine that's the hybrid version too) I don't think its bad value. I've spec'd an R Design with some extras and came out at about £51K which I imagine is going to be a lot less than the new disco when it comes out for a similar spec.

Do you think that the "Discovery 5" will only come with a weedy, 4 cylinder, 2 litre diesel too?
