whadayaknow, I tried your suggestion: CCF > ACM > Nav on Move ... Enable
And the option was there, so I enabled it.
Car is still on the charger now, so will report back tomorrow if it did indeed work.
bit of a PITA to have to rescan all the radio stations and set the date/time after every CCF flash though
we really need to update the Wiki to reflect these changes, but every time I try to login there is a DB failure...--

Well, I enabled the Nav on Move, but on our way to town this evening I asked SWAMBO to try entering a destination and it wouldn't let her
So it seems even when enabled the system doesn't work... --

On a D4, the Nav unit firmware needs to be changed and this cannot be done via the OBD port.http://www.gap-diagnostic.com/

At the current time, only the dealership will be able to do it unless someone here has a Nav update tool and SDD.http://www.gap-diagnostic.com/

I have a 2010 D4 nav in my D3 and I can enter navigation data on the move, as long as I accept the disclaimer when I first go on to the nav page.
