I picked up mine 2 weeks ago and have exactly the same problem with the outside temperature. Did you get the problem resolved? I'm to old to know everything......

No, Dealer was hopeless. I've taken the plug off the sensor and cleaned the plug, that has stabilised it a bit and now it usually over reads by a couple of degrees. I don't know if this is a red herring but it seems to be displaying 'heat index' rather than actual temperature. Heat Index takes the relative humidity into account as well but that is not what it should be displaying.
The sensor is quite cheap so I'm trying to get an old one to swap it over and see what it reads before replacing it.
If you Google the issue it is quite rampant in the USA and not just a Landrover or Jaguar issue as it really knocks the Climate Control off.
Really frustrating

I'll head to the dealer this week and try and get it resolved.
Does anyone know if this is the reading that is used for ice warning?
What else is it used for, is it used for ambient air for engine management? I'm to old to know everything......

Hi graemesmith
Thank you for your post.
I am sorry to learn of the concern you are experiencing with your vehicle so early in your ownership, please accept my apologies on behalf of Land Rover for any inconvenience and frustration that may have been caused.
Should you wish for me to look into this and contact your retailer to establish their findings, please make me aware and send me your details via PM and I will be happy to do so.
Klinkhammer - as I note that you are due to visit your retailer this week regarding your concern, I trust they will be able to investigate and report their findings. However, should you require additional assistance, please feel free to contact me directly and I will be happy to help.

Had our D4 brand new since January 2011 - no faults on arrival and only one minor fault (of a false fault code) during this time BUT for reassurance I have an extended LR warranty.
The fault code happened whilst in France and whilst the slow (very slow) French dealer in Toulouse sorted it out the LR Assistance supplied us with a very good 4X4 loan car. The code it seems was a glitch as they could not find any faults and the car has done many miles since without a problem.

has any one resolved the outside air temperature miss reading as I am sure mine is reading high by 3 degrees as both the house and caravan gauges show it as 0 deg but the car is showing it as 3 deg would like to calibrate or change in the CCF to correct temp, does any one have any ideas on how it could be achieved, I do have at Blackbox MSV 2 so will investigate when I get chance my self. Without doubt the external air temperature display is defective on my July MY16 as well - though mildly interesting is the display on the 65 plate non Ad Blue HSE courtesy car seems accurate .... ? 2016MY Discovery HSE - Black

I have also complained that the outside temperature gauge is always showing 2 degrees warmer than other cars parked next to it.
The dealer said it was showing the same as other cars in the workshop however after the cold spells this weekend its clear the display is wrong.
Must book it in again as not sure what effect this has on the air con, heating, stop start etc.

I wouldn't have thought the external temperature had any bearing on how the auto aircon was reacting to the internal temperature ? Plus you get effects like the solar radiation when the sun is shining makes it feel warmer ?

Pete@Landrover (Ryan)
external temp reading 3 deg high
is this issue now on Land Rover's radar for correction as it will have an impact on the operation of the FBH during the winter months

Disco 4 65 Plate External Temperature sensor issues. |
|
Hi This is my first post so apologies if I make an of it.
Just wondering If anyone is or has experienced issues with inaccurate readings from the external temperature sensor on the Disco 4. Since collecting our new XS in September this year my wife and I noticed that the external temp sensor was showing fairly optimistic readings and when checked against our home weather station, metoffice app, second car and a further temperature sensor placed outside our Disco was a constant 3 degrees higher than what was shown on all the others. Contacted dealer and car was taken into workshop and they agreed temp was out and replaced sensor but one week later we are back to this 3 degree difference!!! I have spoken to my neighbor just to confirm temperature on his car and again my Disco is 3 degrees more ! Land Rover dealer now has my Disco again for further investigations ....
Any thoughts, comments etc would be much appreciated.
