Dear Tintenter,
Many thanks for your reply, sad to say I am happy to hear someone else has the same problem as thought I was going temperature crazy !! While they have my disco in the workshop they have given me a 65 disco courtesy motor and after checking all my temp sensors the courtesy disco is also 3 deg higher !! The workshop said they would need mine for a few days and would most probably have to call Land Rover Technical assistance for further advice ?! I will be sure to let you know the outcome. In my opinion the resistance value of the temperature sensors fitted is obviously different to what Landrover initially set up their vehicles using! possibly a bad batch of temp sensors !
Many Thanks

How are you checking the values of the ambient temperature displayed?21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Yes sorry but you are not carrying those things in the car with you ...I hope
What I mean is are you checking at the beginning, middle or end of the journey?21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Add my MY16 to the list of temp sensors that read about +3 too high.
And speedo reads about 4% high as well.

Ah! Mostly checking first thing before engine has been running to eliminate any chance of engine temp affecting values.

OK ...sometimes I have noticed it's out initially but it corrects itself quite soon after moving off.
The ambient sensor is located near to the front crossbeam so assuming you don't reverse everywhere then it should only be attracting the air temperature from an airflow into the engine compartment rather than from the engine itself.
If it is working incorrectly then it is quite important that they find a solution as the values play an important role in determining how several other bits of kit work I would check it though at different times of the journey
Nazca ...the speedo will always read slightly higher than true speed 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Cheers for the feedback, I have also checked when returning home after a long journey and value is still 3 deg difference. Will wait to see what the men in white coats say!

Surely the ambient temperature is whatever Keeley says it is?
Oh to live in the Look North region again.

My 15 plate 2016my does it too, I thought the sensor maybe too close to something warm but it's out on startup so can't be that, had it checked when in for a satnav issue but still the same, consistently 3 - 4 degrees out in all circumstances, anyone got a fix yet? If it wasn't a car I'd say it was a sensor / calibration issue. Surely the fhb won't cut in now until it's really cold??

I have the same issue of the readout showing 3 or 4 degrees more than the true outside temperature.
The car has been back to the dealers and the comment was "its showing the same as two others so it must be correct!"
It is now booked in for the new year as it clearly isn't correct and neither were the ones it was compared with.
Not sure how this may also be affecting those functions which use outside temperature such as stop start, air con, heater etc.
This, along with the surround camera problems are becoming issues which Land Rover need to rectify otherwise they need to be offering some sort of refund or compensation.
It shouldn't take 4 months to correct - they didn't wait 4 months for payment after delivery.

Sounds like a pattern for 2016 ...best get your dealers to raise a report chaps 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Guess it's perhaps because we have bought such cheap cars that we are expected to just put up with it
Had enough of being ignored - one more chance of a fix before the $hit hits the fan - (or may be that will be another fault to report)
