Yes Ken G's are cool, driven them and worked on them in the past, but surly having driven both can you honestly say that a G is really as comparable to a D4, I cannot honestly say yes to it myself, yes for the boxy styling and for the AMG V8 engine but the rest of it im not so sure, but all said really there is nothing left on the market now.2015 D4 HSE LUX Kaikoura Stone(sold)

2014 Evoque Dynamic Kaikoura Stone (sold)

Sorry I broke it on press day

The other thing to bear in mind was that you could only access the JLR stand if you had the email with the QRCode on it.
Joe Public couldn't just wander on unlike say the Audi or Merc Benz stands ...you could even get on the Porsche stand by queuing up.
This meant that there were around 50 on the JLR stand at any one time....despite this restricted audience the RRS SVR and the FFRR were locked
Like you I had the QR code but did not use it, they were just letting anybody onto the stand, just opening and closing the barrier depending on how busy it was.
My main gripe was that there was nobody on the stand from Land Rover, just "stand dollies" and guys from Land Rover France ( dealer staff? ).
A large number of the visitors were English speaking and it was impossible to ask any real detailed questions, as all you got wasa Gaelic shrug!
Considering it was the first public apperance of the car I would have expected someone there who knew more than the basics.
I ended up explaining to a chap from Australia how access height worked!!
I saw the problem with the seats folding, but to be fair there were people sat in the drivers seat playing and people at the boot playing at the same time.
It was a disgrace that the stand staff just left the seats in the stuck positions, but mind you I am not sure they knew what to do anyway apart from join the visitors and keep pressing buttons. There should have been a technical expert on hand to sort these things and possibly take note to feed any issues back to the development team.
I was still impressed with the car and will be seeing my dealer on Monday to take it further.

D5 does nothing for me.
In 2 years time when I replace the D4 I think my options will be either
Keep D4 a bit longer
Mercedes G wagon or
Hopefully the new Defender, suits my requirements

With logic that sound, what could possibly go wrong?! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: 2 x FL2 as “second” cars 🙄
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!
(One of only two known to exist in the world!)

I'm all for change, I embrace it and desire it, move on to the future
...I also want the change to be able to pass a simple test of function though 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I like Change and look forward to it, I have no issues with all the tecky stuff even though I think some of it is of no real value.
I have had every model of the Discovery and used them as tough 4x4 go anywhere tool boxes to get kit to site and also overlanded them.
I hope I am wrong but from what I have seen so far I don't think the Discovery 5 is the tough 4x4 that its older brothers were.
If Discoveries were to be compared to celebrities.

Disco 2 Clint Eastwood
Disco 3 Chuck Norris
