I drove to Klosters (from Zurich) and went skiing for 2 days...
Heavily restricted numbers, mandatory masks, only limited restaurants open and only on the mountains and only for takeaway eat outside. But we managed to make it a good weekend regardless. And I had a beer with lunch both days
My 2006 Disco 3 sat in -20 overnight on Friday and Saturday and started first time each morning. I changed all 6 glow plugs 2 years ago and I have been so happy I did. It was a bit lumpy for a few seconds until the diesel heater kicked in but I think this proved there must be fuel additive added at the pumps in Switzerland in Winter (I drove there on Diesel bought in Zurich). It was -14 outside on both starts.
I did elect to leave the doors unlocked after giving the actuators a hot supper trying to unlock them after the car sat outside at altitude in France for a week last February. I still need to change at least one of these...
The smoke the car put out the back for 10 minutes while it came up to temperature was comparable with any other car IMO.
Good trip, and the car earned its keep!

The dreaded locking wheel nut issue struck last weekend, but thanks to the forum I managed to remove the stainless steel cap in about an hour with very little swearing.
New nuts (x20) and Irwin Bolt Grips have just arrived.
It's taking all my willpower to no sack off WFH and just go and play outside

I can't think of many places I'd rather breakdown... except maybe the Grampians... stunning scenery round there I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

In for the rear diff seal to be replaced... glad they did it not me as apparently the top bolt for the suspension bush needed cutting off and replacing... I can see my bank balance reducing by the minute I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

CFT means I dropped her off for a new turbo today. Hopefully it'll mean I can continue with the list of jobs once it's sorted...and I've stopped crying at the bill. 😂

Solved an issue that has been annoying me for the last 18 months... a "thunk" when coasting then accelerating - turns out I needed to search for the magic words "Californian stop" and would have seen that this can be solved with an ECU patch on the transmission using the IIDTool
Spent the £25 for custom flash and put it on this afternoon! Will go for a test this evening and fingers crossed it was this all along!

Replaced rear brake disks, brake shoes & all components, calipers, caliper carriers, brake pads. Replaced the brake fluid, too, at the same time.
Bodsy’s guide was an invaluable help.

While SWMBO is upstairs studying, I’ve invited part of the D3 into the loung for some late evening wiring let’s hope I get finished and cleaned up before she sees what’s on the coffee table

While the Disco was in the garage for some TLC last week, I ordered a set of LED interior lights that I’ve fitted today. I have to say, I think they look great. I forgot to factor in the lights under the rear doors though so I’m two bulbs short 12 months of D3 ownership have passed and I’m still loving it!

Make do
Not quite TO my Discovery, but for
I’ve been using a “really good” battery inspection lamp to try and find a leek the last few days but it’s never enough, and small, focused mains inspection lamps seem to be difficult to find so sitting here tonight, wife studying, I had an idea
Had to work hard collecting the parts, had to make two attempts to creat the shade but think it’ll work tomorrow
Ok, so I was bored
