United Kingdom 2008 Discovery 3 TDV6 HSE Auto Galway GreenDiscovery 3

Clicked around 80,000 miles yesterday

Finally got around to blanking my EGR's this morning after one failed again yesterday
Removed the butterfly to but left all the pipework in place so no visible changes.
Amazing amount of gunk being shoveled in to the intake which is nice to see an end to

Still showing a MAF fault which doesn't appear to affect the driveability at all...

And ordered a set of Duratrac's, £480 fitted on the drive at home by Halfords of all people.

It’s worth taking your MAF sensor out and giving it a clean once you take the egrs away, get rid of the accumulated gunk, should clear the fault

I'll do that, thanks for the advice!

Should probably have done it while I had it all in bits this morning.....

Smile it’s the simplest things we forget when the cars in pieces on the drive Smile clean the MAP & MAF sensors, just spray liberally with contact cleaner, no poking stuff in or you’ll wreck them. Make sure they’re absolutely dry before replacing ( couple of minutes)

Ah well, if it didn't need fettling occasionally it would be boring!

Not a big job and I'll do it over the weekend, the MAF fault only occured yesterday when the EGR packed up so they are evidently related
Not showing an EML so not hugely concerned

Hiya

Plus 1, was also amazed how dirty the Map sensor was after I also blanked my EGRs, luckily as mines a 2005 didn’t need the software patch

Done the same ref the Egr pipes leaving them in situ and hiding the blanks at the engine side

Ur spot on as couldn’t believe how dirty the throttle body was when removing the butterfly, also fun trying to get the pin back in

Noticed the difference that’s for sure

Shane, how much of a pain was it to get the bumper off, any surprises? I just fitted twin electrics and found the only rust on the car being on the rear bumper main beam so planning to take the bumper off, clean up and paint.

Its very easy

4 screws along the lower edge
2 screws underneath + the ones holding the mudflaps if you have them
Drop the tailgate down and lift up the flap you will find four trim clips
Remove the three trim clips holding on each rear part of wheel arch and remove the wheel arch
Under the wheel arch you will find one more trim clip each side
Remove both rear lights and the two m6 bolts securing the top of the bumper
Disconnect the rear parking sensor loom behind the lefthand rear light
Then gently pull the bumper tips away from the body to release the clips each side
The bumper should then slide off

The worst part are the trim clips just be gentle with them gently ease the middle part out.
Give them a quick soak in soap water when you take them out to get the mud of and then a spray with wd40. They the go back in easily and will come out easy the next time.

Was quite easy tbh only pain was the mud flap screws as the heads were realy rusty. replaced all of them in case it needs to come off again in future. The plastic grommets under the tailgate were fiddly but long nose pliers and a small flat screwdriver did the trick mate But all in all straightforward I had three cuppas mind while pondering and taking my time 😂

Drilled a hole in the home 3-D printed detatchable tow hitch plug and put a string loop through so I can pull the thing off!

Might add the hole to the design for (if) any more which might get printed.

Oh - checked and graphited the passenger door keyhole and checked it works Thumbs Up
