If you buy a vacuum cleaner you can make subsequent birthdays and Christmases an absolute delight for her with sets of accessories to cover all her vacuuming needs.
Flowers? Don't buy them. Buy a marked-down wilting bunch from a garage and tape it to a lampost near an accident blackspot. A few days later, you'll be able to take your pick.

Sometimes we get so wrapped up with all the news in the media about others that need our help, that we forget our own, the people under our very noses.
This is a genuine Facebook post from a local young lady who posted yesterday asking if anyone can help. The two others are adverts in the last month or so from her. She’s trying her best as a single mother and admits she is getting very depressed and yes she is working any hours she can as a Cleaner. Any names removed.

Was in a shop today and some mother was moaning at her young kid for asking for a packet of sweet. She so politely said to the kid "Don't you know its f###ing Christmas in just over a month" and continued to foul mouth the kid. She then asked the sales assistant for 20 fags. Couldn't hold myself....I had to let her know what I thought. She then decided to foul mouth me to which I responded by how well that young kid will turn out when he's older.

Noticed they have been keeping late hours my way. They never used to. I know where they normally sit and set the car on cruise control. I tend to keep to the speed limits. All I can think is they are wanting to make up the Pandemic shortfall or wanting a Crimbo bonus?

EDF energy, they don’t seem to be able to understand that my late mother’s house is un occupied awaiting sale completion.
They keep estimating the bills as if the house is occupied, they have passed the account to a debt collection agency even though it is over £90 in credit with the correct readings.
They also keep sending emails suggesting that she has a smart meter fitted.
I did let off a bit of steam to the debt collection people on the phone today about it to make me feel better.Disco 4

Aberdeenshire Council and their effing council tax… have been paying £92 per month since I moved in and paid by direct debit. Checked my account this morning and the little “darlings” have damn near emptied my account by debiting the entire outstanding balance… and add insult to injury they don’t take phone calls emailed them and “we will get back to you within 10 working days” FFS…I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Thanks, thought about that but if you claim it back that way they class it as not paid and send the sheriff in... and you don't have recourse to an appeal process or to a court as it's all done "in house" hence why the whole CT system in Scotland needs overhauling! Even if they don't send the Sheriff they don't allow you to pay by instalments next year..
The CT office are judge and jury in these cases, I experienced this the hard way when I sold a property and the new owners didn't bother to register for council tax, CT office claimed I didn't tell them (even produced a letter from my solicitor informing them but that "wasn't me informing them") they eventually relented after I got my MP involved but the first I knew of it was a letter from the Sheriff saying he was going to come and seize assets at my NEW address for the debt...even though they had sent all the correspondence to the old address (as I was living aboard when the house was sold) whole system is fundamentally flawed....I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

This is why I always keep a small supply of clickseal bags and jiffy envelopes on my desk, so I never have to buy in supplies before sending a fresh turd to a mindless public servant.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Hermes drivers! I know the expression pay peanuts and you get monkeys but I think Hermes drivers give monkeys a bad name.
We have a Hermes depot across the yard from us. Our vehicles are logo up and park outside our unit. Our unit number 4B is about 45 cms diameter and is about 0.5m away from our letter box.
In our letter box today a Hermes package which should have been delivered to a different company in unit 4A not to us in unit 4B. That low level Hermes monkey driver probably saved themselves an extra 10m walk but would have to do it anyway as I delivered it back to Hermes.

Or you could have simply dropped if off at the correct address next door! There are bigger things in life to get stressed about!
