Interesting article in the Telegraph today about how JLR has increased turnover and profits (for LR) since Tata took over.

Haven’t seen the article but making profit is a great thing - also for Tata [Motors]. JLR paid £150M in FY2017, 20% of profits or £225M in FY2018 and in FY2019 it’ll be 25% of profit as dividend.

Meanwhile TM is making a loss in the Indian market and certainly not paying any dividends themselves. Thumbs Up

@NJSS.

Sorry, what does 'deposit allowance' mean ? Discounted price when financed ?

Yeah. If you buy the vehicle using their financing instrument you get the reduction in price. Depending on the instrument it might or might not be making sense to do so - APR, handling fees, residual value, etc.

Of course if you can pay it off in one go it’ll work like a cash discount but with just more steps to jump through.

Not sure what JLR does here, I haven’t been looking. Neither have I looked at Volvo but I get their customer magazine regularly... they had last weekend APR 0.9%, 8 eur/mo service charge, nothing else. Pretty much the same I had 5 years ago.

Normally the APR tends to be between 2 and 7% depending on place, some brands just refer you to a bank. The 0.9% tends to be campaign based and the manufacturer probably supports the local dealers somehow when they’re offering the nice rate.

Santander Consumer Finance tends to be “popular” but my understanding is that their rates tend to be quite high. Monthly processing/service charges tend to be between 6 and 15 eur. Usually there is an account opening fee, too, 100-300 eur depending on the place. All these add up for the unsuspecting consumer.

Weired all these charges. I got a loan from JLR for my F-Type, not all but a substantial amount.
They charge me 2.9% and thats it. No service fees or other "add-ons" at all..

I can easily check as its a straight forward annuity calculation any mortgage app can do..
They even charge almost no interest over the final payment, 20% of the purchase price...

I guess this is possible since in NL loans are repaid in 99,5% roughly, so no risk at all almost
for the backer of the funds. This is a finance company, not JLR themselves.

I would assume that in NL, just like here, the car is the collateral and title transfers to you once the whole loan has been paid off?

They have to shift all the existing stock before the new emissions kick in. After that date they will be a problem!!

Seems like nothing more than the kind of discounts that have always been offered on my last 6 Discos Confused
