Because I'm allowed to request that it be fixed. Discos near me are now few and far between too.
I've edited my post too.

We seem to have two threads discussing the same issue. It is too late to merge them as the posts and responses will become muddled. Please advise which one you would like locked so that conversation can continue.

Best of luck to you but I'm afraid I would also be in the 'money back and start again' camp. Far too many fish in the sea, particularly when enthusiasts vehicles come up on here so often.

But like I said, wish you best of luck for 'Diana' Thumbs Up

Each to their own and that kind of stuff... however as you've posted in this forum, you're open to suggestions and feedback I guess ?

I would echo most of the comments made here by those in the know. It is a buyers market with Disco 3's there are hundreds to chose from at all price points. I trawled around for a good one, bought off this forum with both previous owners regular posters.. I paid £4300, it came with a full history and receipts for everything spent over the past 10 years, including some big ticket items... auto box, torque converter, transfer box, all new air bags etc etc and it's been a great vehicle so far, minimal spend and a tiny bit of welding for the MOT. There were three to chose from being advertised on here at the same time all at sub £5000 prices

I guess with any 2nd hand car it's a gamble, but fair play on the guy who sold it to you, he offered a full refund and you could have just got the money back and started again ?

Maybe you like a challenge, but it definitely pays to shop wisely with a D3, they can be very expensive to run and fix.

Have looked within 100 miles of where I am and there is very little about about under 5k. Most have problems, or lights on. Your Disco sounds brilliant, maybe I should have done the more sensible thing! Shocked

It's all very difficult isn't it. I was looking for many months before one popped up on here - with a high mileage, but excellent service history and LOADS of receipts at under £5k.
Only you know your budget, and you bought a car in good faith.
I probably would have returned it myself, however even mine with FSH and all the receipts has a few issues. I CERTAINLY would have got LR to agree to repair it before I blanked EGR's or similar, just in case they decline for some reason.

Now you've altered it, you're keeping it.

So, forget what's gone before - welcome to the family - I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot more of you or MrMarsh on here going forwards for all the other teething troubles one gets when acquiring a new car. Thumbs Up

Thank you Smile
That's a very fair point about about EGR. Maybe the weekend job could be to put it back as it was? Is that doable? I'm going to be popular later...
Yes, decision made, suck it up and all that, got some work planned to do over the next week too re the suspension. Then give some other bits some TLC, then the belts and pump.

Yep, also welcome.... as you say you've just got to get on with it now Smile

I think the thing for me was, I already had a D2 for 6 years and decided to get a D3, I wasn't in any hurry so I just kept looking for something reasonable to come along, and it did. I had to take a train ride to Cornwall to get it, but me & the wife made a nice weekend of it.

Hopefully you'll fix yours up in the coming weeks and it'll be a good un...

For peace of mind I'd do the belts & oil pump first.
