Should have left the guy in Afghanistan.
Anyway, when he gets back home and returns to Uni, instead of giving him support as said in the article, they should throw him out immediately.

I fail to see why an university should expel a w er. Yes, probably not the sharpest knife in the drawer competing for the Darwin Award but what people do in their free time is not and should not be under some institution’s purview.
He’ll probably write a book, promote stuff on Instagram and become a commercial success.

Simples, on the basis whilst a student, he represents the Uni & by his own actions, brings that institution into disrepute.

Was it illegal though?

Doesn’t have to be illegal to contravene the Unis Regs.
Rather than uphold the guys right to be a and simply go back to Uni as if nothing happened, I’d have thought it would have been unanimous to have had him face the consequences of his actions.
After all, it may have put some in jeopardy ensuring his safety and getting him back here and he took up a space on the plane that someone more deserving should have had rather than be left behind. Still, each to their own opinion.

Behaviour which damages the good name of the University eg. inconsiderate, reckless or anti-social behaviour.
On that basis most Universities wouldn’t have enough students left to be financially viable.

Interesting difference between soundbite headlines and reality. Boris has said that the UK will accept 20,000 Afghan refugees. That sounds very worthy and will hopefully ensure those most at risk are helped.
Turns out that the Government actually means "we'll take 20,000 at 5,000 a year". Which means that very many fewer people will be helped initially and many who might be at risk will continue to be so for some time.
As one of the countries that went in to Afghanistan and tried to change the country, it seems to me that we have quite a responsibility to them. I'm sure we remember what happened in Iraq when people who thought they were being helped by the west ended up being massacred by Saddam.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

I am sure your right and it’s nothing more than a silly student prank despite the following release from his University.
“The University is aware of this situation. We will be following up on concerns once the student has returned and will be considering the appropriate action to take at that point.”
I am sure they’ll all sit round the table, have a cup of tea, a biccy perhaps and have a good laugh about it! I am also sure they won’t think this sullies the Unis reputation and could put people/parents off applying. If that happened, they wouldn’t have enough students left to be financially viable.

Might be a tad controversial, but listening to Teressa May going on about the Taliban wanting to impose their ideals and values in the country, but isn’t that exactly what the west has been doing, not only there but in other countries for years, trying to impose “western” values in places that might not actually want these as “values”, as to be honest, some of our “western” values stink.
Ok, I don’t want to live under sharia law, but there are times I’m not sure I want some of our laws and so called values

exactly that. They do not want western values now, just like they didn't 20 years ago.

I am not sure I believe all the news reports being peddled either. I’d also be wary about the refugee situation. Fleeing for their lives or wanting a better life? Not quite sure.
That apart, the Taliban of 20 years ago isn’t the Taliban of today. It seems more liberal, more tolerant but time will tell.
Above all. Please let us learn, sending in the troops is not the way to do things, don’t we ever learn?

No society will be perfect for any one person and their morals/beliefs. The important point of our society is that we have so much choose and freedom in how we live our lives.
We can freely choose to follow any of the numerous religious beliefs or none at all and we can openly criticise any of them, provided it doesn’t break the law of course.
Equally we can live with strict moral values or not, again provided that we don’t break any laws.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
