The next Prototype PCB has been confirmed as having the copper flood present and has just been submitted for production which will now take about 10 days.
I will write back with more info once i have this and can try it out, but it is certainly great to be back on the case.
Your 10 days have expired Collin, we are all waiting in anticipation!
Why not produce two kits one with paddle shift one without? It can when others can't,

I guess they mean working days M3DPO
Should be some time this week
My design is cleverly done so it is extendable from base versions with additional options to accommodate heated and ACC if required, as well as Paddle Shift.
When i get the boards in, i will post up some pictures.

Had PM from Colin earlier in the week. He is still waiting for the prototype pcb's to arrive.

Annoyingly we have waited and waited and waited for the newest prototype boards to arrive and as yet they are MIA.
They were apparently posted from Ireland last Saturday !!!
We already had / have all the technical aspects working, it's just that the voltage dropper resistors for the back light LEDS are running too hot.
I am really hoping that our providing a copper flood plane in the latest design, as per the original board will fix this, but i have also since recognized that while we have been inputting a direct 12V feed for the background illumination for testing, that in fact the D3 inputs a PWM'd feed from the lighting switch that even in full on mode may provide less power and require less heat dissipation than we are trying to achieve.
In addition i am considering adding an overall external high wattage resistor if required.

The PCB's finally came in.
Looking much nicer than all previous ones, as we have added solder masking and of course they do now have exposed flood planes for dissipating the heat over the surface area
I got them assembled at the end of last week, which was far more difficult than i though due to my having to remember and remind myself of a lot of stuff from when i last worked on this. After confirming they do still functionally work as they should, leaving only the LED and temp problem, i put the bare boards on test yesterday for a several hours.
There is certainly a dramatic improvement in temperatures, with everything except one small area, which only has a small plane being acceptable as is. I can do a bit of mod in that area and would then be happy to go with that except for the fact that their will be some difference when the boards are enclosed as opposed to being in free air.
One of the worst things that might affect it is the Silicon cover that has the button presses and covers one entire side, so we have added this cover today with a few bits of masking tape to see how it affects things.
Anyway given that you guys have had to be patient, I thought to take a picture
Through the translucent silicon cover you can clearly see the silver flood plain areas as opposed to the darker areas used for the tracks.
The Red LED on the left panel is for the Red phone button.
You may also notice that in about the Middle of the Right hand board there is a dark oblong shaped area that has one LED at the top and two at the bottom. This area has no plane or tracks on either side, as behind here it is where the optional sub board will plug on with the transmitter and it's antennae on that will handle the Flappy paddles part. Leaving it open guarantees the best possible RF performance.
Although i can keep an eye, or more accurately a finger, on temperatures at this stage, when the full back and buttons are on, it will be much more difficult and i may simply have to gauge the temperature of the outside plastic and leave this on all day every day for several days to see if there is any sign of the internal temperature affecting the board.
I also have a second test rig and i am going to build a second set of these boards with Lower value resistors on and add a large high powered external one.
It's really great to be not only be back to where we were once at with this side project but making some progress on the last issue we had to overcome, having previously overcome so much already.

Top man Colin. Been wishing for an update on this for days and now we get a pic as well.
Sounds very promising........ Don't suppose you are able to provide timescales at this stage are you? MY15 D4 SDV6 HSE Corris Grey - Gone
