I have a few heated paddle RRS steering wheels availble at a good price if any one wants to start collecting parts ? They come with the main switches and paddles attached and are all heated.

Hi

The ones I have are nearly brand new take offs with all the switches and paddles on them, with Uk mainland shipping I can let them go for £160+vat each.

What else is needed to get the heated/paddles working?

Having looked at the BBS site there is no mention of this project that I can see. Any ideas if this has gone into production yet? Having read the full thread it seemed almost complete......

I'm so wanting to press the buy it now from Pete button but am unsure of the price of the rest of the kit to make it all work. This could become an expensive ornament if I buy it and then realise I'm into a huge bill to get it to work. Does anyone have a ballpark figure of the costs of the other parts?

Yea there is indeed now some progress.

Those following the technical detail will know that when i back burned this project i had already got everything working except the back lighting LED's.

I got the color match right, but LED'S don't take 12 Volts, only 2 or 3 at best and you need to add resistors to drop the voltage. These generate heat which has to be dissipated somehow and so on the last prototype boards i added a flood plain of copper on both upper and lower sides of the PCB joined by vias to achieve this.

The last prototype boards turned up with the Vias but not the copper flood.

This has now been sorted along with understanding that we might not have to cope with a full 12V raw feed but only a PWM'd feed from the lighting switch.

The next Prototype PCB has been confirmed as having the copper flood present and has just been submitted for production which will now take about 10 days.

I will write back with more info once i have this and can try it out, but it is certainly great to be back on the case.

Still holding my breath for this bit of kit. Am dying to get myself a new D4 / RRS wheel but want it to have full functionality.
