Hiya All
An Update
This project is now really down to the wire.
Christian and the BBS production staff are currently running around like headless chickens producing build documentation and part and time costings for building this, and Christian has his own deadlines on the possibility of sorting a workable solution for the LED backlights, asking for more time i am simply unwilling to give although i might let is slide for one more working day as i am a nice Boss
I am also currently working on a regular basis with someone who is field testing this, especially the Paddle shift part in a D3.
Given how long it has already taken to get this project to this stage, it really is now very close and i would ask you all to bear with us at this very final stage.

As this Conversion Kit simply replaces the internal PCB's on the D4 wheel switches, it really does not matter what style or finish type the switches have.
As stated in my last post, we are currently working on Field testing this as well as the build costings and Christian is trying to sort out a last second solution for the LED's that will affect the final price if he is sucessful and he does seem pretty confident.
So right now we simply cannot announce any firm and final pricing and as such cannot take pre orders as much as we both wish we could.
But at least we are very close now after what seems like an eternity for this project.
Of course we will be looking to provide a Forum based launch discount

Well gents......
I can finally tell you its a reality 😃 as I have been testing this this week in conjunction with BBS.

I can tell you its a great, well thought out kit. BBSSPY's instructions from before are bang on. You will need to remove the switches from the wheel (secured by a couple of torx screws) then follow the instructions.
There is a separate module for the Flappy paddles that plugs into the a connector on the left hand side board. There is also an ACC module for those in an RRS. Same on the RHS for those with a heated wheel.
Once in , swap wheel over on car and boom.... its working
As for the Flappy paddles -if you go that route- there is a radio receiver module that has to be connected to the gear selector in the centre console. For this you well have to remove this to access a connector.
Once located strip and solder four wires onto the existing loom and secure the receiver. Refit all and go for a drive. This works perfectly and is a great mod. Sadly it wont work in normal D mode but works perfectly in S/Command Shift mode as this is a limitation of the transmission ECU. I may try flashing mine with a later version to see if it gets enabled but doubts at the moment.
Some piccys at http://1drv.ms/1nWf2DH but don't do what I did and just remove the cover to the shift as I ended up breaking a clip......
Nearly there all ....

Thanks for all your help in field testing this on your D3, great write up and pictures ids. It looks really cool
robbo770:
Just as well you posed up a picture of your steering wheel as I can instantly see a rather large problem in that your Steering wheel is not for a Disco 4 or indeed a Range Rover sport, but in fact is for a late Freelander 2. I can tell this because it has a hexagonal mount in the centre as opposed to a splined fitting.
